i recall an article re Bertrand Russell being locked up for his Peace Protests -aged 90 odd
he mentioned something re being Agnostic (i think it was)
the Guard said something like
Yes' there are some of us who believe in HIM'
Bertrand reputedly smiled for several days..or sommitt
(prob got it up the shit - but no matter)

Do you think that Pacifism is partially a modern day Phenomenon?

Yes, very modern, humans lacked sensitivity in the good ol days but now we are more inclined to show how we feel (men are even crying on national TV). It is useful yes but sometimes violence is necessary so it would be stupid to take the pacifist stance all of the time.
