So I’m watching TV and this story comes on. Pretty horrific. A mentally disabled women in a care facility who cannot speak or communicate in any way gave birth last December. No one had known she was pregnant until she began moaning in pain. DNA proved it was a male nurse who had been providing care to her, despite the family’s request for female caregivers only. There’s a lot more horror to this story. It happened in Arizona at the Hacienda care facility. Google it.

Anyway, one of the panelists was a psychiatrist talking about the type of perpetrator that commits assaults on unconscious women. He described it as a type of paraphilia. He said these types of individuals are quite disturbed and likely to reoffend.

So what’s the difference between this nurse, a guy who roofies a girl, a guy who gets a woman drunk/high and a guy who just takes advantage of finding a woman passed out? Do they all suffer from paraphilia? Are they just ‘boys being boys’? Are they are criminals? Do they deserve the same ‘punishment’?

It’s been awhile since I visited the basement here, but I distinctly remember threads where unconscious women were being passed around and humiliated. Pretty sickening stuff. Some of the guys here loved that stuff. If you ‘like’ it, are you as guilty as those in the video.

Fuck yes if you like it you're just as guilty.

It's rape, it's RAPE.

The only rape fantasies I've ever had in my life involve returning the fucking offense to the people who do it to the innocent.

They deserve to be punished just as harshly as the man who knocks a person unconscious and drags their body behind a bush and violently rapes them. Oh, wait... Even those motherfuckers end up getting fucking PROBATION or not tried in court at all.

Fuck, I swear this species isn't half as evolved as it thinks it is.

I agree. It’s all rape. But “we” don’t treat it as such. If a guy gets a girl drunk, “we blame her, and let her blame herself. “We” don’t want to ruin his life by sending him to jail, by calling him what he is - a rapist.

It’s so easy when a woman gets dragged behind the bushes by a stranger, but so hard when it’s the cute guy on a date who makes sure she’s too drunk to stand up. Or the guy in the bar who isolates her from her friends.

These guys are all rapists.

In the 1980s, a mentally deficient, bedridden girl was raped by a caregiver (Amarillo, TX State School.) a court ruled in the light of pro life and because this girl, who was told it’d be like having a doll, said she wanted her baby, said she had to carry the baby to term.
Her parents sued the state, and one condition was the state school system would be shut down, except for the facility that housed their daughter.
They won. Thousands of people needing full time institutional care were moved to mental hospitals and group homes. Many suffered from lack of adequate care.
My own brother died from this lack of care.

Because one asshole raped someone.

That’s disgusting. I’m so sorry you had to endure that and your poor brother.

Just goes to show how much rapists contribute to the world.

The sad thing is, it's not even easy when a woman gets dragged into an alley and raped! See Brock Turner the rapist.

I thought about Brock. But he was an athlete. So it didn’t count. He had such a bright future. And you know us women, and we can overreact to a little rough sex behind a dumpster. Scumbag.

I keep trying to respond to this thread without a vein in my forehead bulging out. I don't think it's possible.

Honestly? And I am not "rating"assault. All violation is ultimately an act of violence and intended destruction acted out in an undeserving person.

Rape by care giver is a special circle of hell. The victims were entrusted into the care of supposedly professional staff. There is a double violation of autonomy and trust.

There is a serious issue with of people in whatever position of authority abusing power. I believe/know perpetrators seek out these positions for easy access to victims. From the priesthood to correction officers predators are given open doors to helpless people.

The problem is made worse by excusing the offense or ignoring the frequency with which these acts are happening.

Stop trying to understand why it happens with labels like paraphilia. Bury a few bastards under the jail and get on with life.

Are you saying that the parents were attempting to compel their daughter to abort? And that was what the courts ruled on?

Why would a lawsuit result in school closures? That seems bizarre to me.

(Not questioning your story, but I fear I'm not completely understanding it)

The advocate for the girl was pro life at all costs. So she interviewed with the doll wording.
The parents, who do NOT have legal custody (my brother was in the same system, my second cousin in the same facility) because it is ceded to the state, were waffling.
They sued over the assault and asked for closure of the rest of the system. That was awarded
So my cousin Keith lived there until he died and my brother Steve went to group homes.

I agree LaFemme:
My own perspective
We don’t want to ruin his life? But he’s not the victim she is, what about him ruining her life?
Why not ruin his life he made the choice he should learn the consequences for choices.
Pro life - I get but what about the female victims life? This can go deep I know.

I was molested by my grandfather resulting in pregnancy, had a abortion. I can still
Remember the sound of the machine. My grandfather came to babysit while my parents went away. They came home to me on the foyer with a open femur Fracture. And the ambulance there. My grandfather had left realized he was in trouble I guess. He was arrested 14 hours away from Michigan. I never did anything to bring this on. The abortion caused damage, taking away my ability to have children. He was prosecuted sent to prison, got out did it again was sent back. Has since died. I carried anger towards my parents most of my life.

I was sent to a all girls Catholic Boarding school,
I felt punished & abandoned
My parents I felt removed me from the situation
IMO that wasn’t the solution.

Life is about choices, there is no such thing as a victimless crime. Someone always pays no matter what. I get someone having their future ahead of them. What’s promising for one person
ie; promising athletic future, or someone with a disability not yet distinguished what their future is.
All life matters, yes there are laws in place and then there are circumstances. First time offenders, rehabilitation, probation, jail, prison,
Not one system is perfect.
I feel for both sides and the families of both.

Consequences for choices can be difficult

I’m so sorry this happened to you. It happens to a lot of us, but not everybody gets caught.

I’m just gutted by your story.

Thanks for clarifying.

Awful and worrying that one case could have such far reaching consequences. Is that what you call an activist judge?

What if your family had sued the state over the consequences for your brother? Sounds like you could've made a good case. Would the state education programme have been reinstated? Of course not. What a terrible way of making policy.

By the time my brother died, the facilities had been converted to office spaces. My stepfather worked on the same campus my brother had lived in, for several years.

Activist judge is used more by the conservative side to malign the liberal side, so, no, I’d not use the term. I will say it was a savvy legal team for the girl’s family.

Our own will to fight was exhausted in simply trying to get a DNR for my brother. Again, my parents had no legal decision making power, and we had to go through the courts.
My mother received disturbing calls at all hours of the day and night by disability activists who only saw we were filing for DNR on a person of highly diminished mental capacity.
“Why do you want to kill your baby?” was common. The “baby” was 33, had the cognition of an eight MONTH old child, with an outlook of vegetative state, likely bed bound, and severe lung damage. What little joy he had in life would be gone.
It got so bad we forwarded her calls to my phone. I laid into these people.

Like making the choice to sign a DNR on behalf of a loved one. Randos making middle of the night phone calls basically calling you baby killers just bring another level of unneeded misery.

This is why I want scanner brain exploding powers

I'm sorry ya family and you went through all that
