But I just cannot fathom why a Prime Mover of the Entire Universe, eternal and invincible, would actually FEEL humanlike emotions! How can you be surprised such a blatant anthropomorphization is seen as extraordinarily naive by nonbelievers? What did God "care" about for the first 12 billion years before the appearance of mankind? Why didn't he instruct the cavemen on how to behave before manifesting himself to a single tribe in the middle of the desert?

Look at the scale of the universe, at the scope of spacetime from the infinitesimal to the grotesquely immense: how could he care what people wear, eat or who they sleep with, how could he have appeared to the Jews but not to the Chinese???

It's not a question of PROOF, it's a question of plausibility. The Bible's God just seems so extraordinarily implausible. He's not even necessary for metaphysics, morals, or even spirituality in the broadest sense.

I'm one that believes that all religions tie together one way or another. Almost in the same way many languages can be linked together. But just like a long game of telephone the original story may have become distorted... Things may have been changed over time by someone of power in order to control the masses. Things like that happen. You don't think that possible? Like I said, even the Rastafarian belief system holds some merit to me. I feel like people try to make faith this cut and dry thing....like there's ONE way to be of faith. Go back through all my post....I never once said any other religion was wrong. I think it's possible that they all contain a little truth...

How would you make a decision with prayer? And in all honesty, it doesn't matter what the authorities use when determining public policy, because the authoritative institution will be subject to all the ills of man kind...no matter what governs their decisions. Look at all the shit that happened with Priest in Catholicism.... man is a flawed being...period.

But to answer the question I think you were trying to ask...I wouldn't mind the 10 commandments being considered though. I don't think there's a way to fuck those up....but knowing greedy men in power....they'd find a way.

I always found the 10 commandments to be an ironic "moral base" for today's society. First off, almost all were punishable by death if broken. And interestingly, many were broken in later stories by people doing as they claimed god told them. Thou shalt not kill? Thou shalt not steal? Don't covet thy neighbor's house or wife or servant or livestock? What about when god says to go and destroy a city and take it over as your own?

True, but I observe Jesus to be a separate entity. he was God's son..and yes you CAN say he was God incarnate... But GOD didn't walk on water. When they speak of Jesus in the bible they speak of him as a separate entity...but also as the son of God.

Why would someone (or something) create something so complex as the universe then not care about it's creation(s)? The bible paints god as a being with emotions (most notably wrath, jealousy, and anger) but are those emotions possible without the inverses existing as well?

If that something was just an occurrence, and not a being, then it is incapable of caring. Only when one anthropomorphizes the unknown into a being do we start wondering what emotional characteristics the being has. People once thought the tides were moved by a god. Later it was realized that mover wasn't a god but the effects of the moon's gravitational pull on the water. Does the moon care about the effects of its actions? Does it choose to erode away islands because the actions of the inhabitants displease it?

God was created in man's image, and as such, carries all his petty emotional baggage -- but with omnipotent power.
