Interesting study:

Do More Attractive People Have More Sexual Partners? — Sex And Psychology

Note that, for short term partners (hookups?) women appear to focus on men's entire bodies, whereas men seem to focus on the face with less concern about female body attractiveness.

Also, women of "average" attractiveness have fewer partners than those of higher or lesser attractiveness.

For the women, that seems logical.
The really attractive ones have their choice of men and cen try out and keep the one they like most.
The average looking ones probably have enough self esteem to not go for any guy that asks them, but less choice so less partners to try than category above.
The unattractive ones are of course aware of that and may be more easily used by men just looking for quick sex.

I suppose, even though only men/women-couplings are studied, that a similar thing would be in same sex couplings, but, that's me making assumptions, although there the lines may be more blurry wrt "being used for quick sex only", as those encounters would count for both partners and they are the same gender in this case.
