Awkward Moment with My Roommate

I want to share something that happened last night with my roommate—who, for the record, is very much straight.

We were out for a walk, discussing studies, when I suddenly needed to pee. I excused myself and stepped toward some bushes to relieve myself. Unexpectedly, he followed me and stood close by, continuing our conversation as we both pissed.

He finished first, zipped up, and moved even closer—making direct eye contact. If he wanted to, he could have easily seen me still holding my limp dick, though I’m not sure if he actually looked. His tone, expression, and body language didn’t change at all, as if this were completely normal.

I, however, grew self-conscious. Normally, I’d shake myself off a few times to avoid stains, but with him standing there, I quickly tucked myself away and zipped up.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Is it common for guys to pee side by side so casually?

This is totally normal in my experience. I’m not sure why you put it away. You should have let it linger. It’s just a male bonding moment. Take it in.

Guys can be comfortable seeing and being naked around each other and even commenting on each others bodies, dicks, etc. That doesn’t automatically make it gay or bisexual, but it doesn’t not either. Being open, being honest, but being a hound or having an agenda to convert or force anything is key. I have played rugby since I was 8 and have seen every body shape and type fully naked. I have straight, gay and bi friends. I’d say don’t assume sexuality, don’t be scared to carefully broach attraction and be prepared if it’s not reciprocated.

Yeah man, I think it just means comfortable around you. If you’re comfortable around him, you could probably start getting more used to getting naked around each other. Test the waters, see what he’s comfortable with. I have found that the guys that I have been able to just get casually naked with, especially when we’re in college have been some of my closest friends

Is it common for guys to pee side by side so casually?

Yes; It seems totally normal to me. Over the years, I have peed with friends both indoors (public men's rooms) and outdoors (you name it).

Yes, it's normal, and sort of a male bonding thing. I've peed next to most of my friends at one point or another. I met my best friend in college. One weekend he invited me to stay at his house, which was a half hour away from our university. His parents were away for the weekend, so we just hung out listening to music and talking. At one point, I told him I needed to take a leak and headed to the powder room, which was down a short hallway. I didn't bother to close the door, since we were the only two in the house. As soon as I started to pee, he barged in, unzipped, and peed next to me, as he said, "I decided I needed to do the same thing." We finished, zipped up, and went back to whatever it was we were doing. No big deal.
