When my boyfriend and I were visiting Scotland a few years ago we stayed in a Bed and Breakfast place just outside of Ayr.

We all were gathered in the parlor of a very fine house where one particularly pompous Scottish overweight fellow in his mid-sixties was swirling brandy in his snifter. He had a certain air about him. We were all chatting back and forth.

When I said "was Paisley once a nice town before the airport was located there?" He replied without hesitation:

"the only thing ever to come out of Paisley is bile"

I've never forgotten the distain on his face as he made that pronouncement.
