    (belong togetheeeeeeeer)
    When you left
I lost a part of me
    (togetheeeeeeeer)
It's still so hard to believe!!
Come back baby please (come back, come back), 'cause
    We belong together!!
Who am I gonna lean on (who else?)
When times get rough (who else?)
Who's gonna talk to me on the phone
    Till the sun comes up
    (who else?)
Who's gonna take your place (who else?)
    There ain't nobody better
    Oh baby, baby
We belong together (we belong together)

Now, I know I am an unapologetic Mariah fan. That being said, there is SOMEthing about this song. It's infectious. It's contagious. It is powerful. It builds in crazy fashion to ultimate desperation.

I hear this shit and I get the urge to pack my shit, call my wife and (ex) BF on the cell and tell them I am leaving to be with Mariah because I belong with her.

    Who knew?!?!

(betta not nobody betta say nothin' bad bout Ms. Carey. Cuz that's when I go OFF~!!!) /Benitta Betrell of In Living Color fame

    Sorry Lex,

Yes, her new album is good, but it was her old stuff that made her. She is old school quality. Not sure aobut the new stuff.

    @Lex: Word.

Hate me, scorn me, but Mariah is MY GIRL and that song is MY JAM. Sappy, check. Cheesy, check ... and I'll take it all day long.

"Bobby Womack's on the radio, singing to me 'If you think you're lonely now ..."

Oh, I agree. This song, however, is one of the best R&B song to come along in years.

For this jaded dancing queen nothing will ever touch the sublime hypnotic remix (both ballad and dance versions) of "My All".

I fell in love to it. Nothing brings me to sentimental tears quicker than that song.

Fuck, I'm gonna go find my boyfriend.

Sounds like a cross between Lovers & Friends and Confessions pt. 2. I can't help but think it'd be 100x better if 90's Mariah was singing it.. Her voice is like 1/8 of what it used to be.

I was sick of the old Mariah....I like the new stuff a lot. As far as the vibe I get from her now...it feels much more real and down to earth.

When she hits that sultry low note in "Unbreak My Heart," it makes me want to jump the fence.

    Almost.

@ Naughty--I'mma bout ta go OFF on you Guuuuurrrl~!!

@ GoneA --stop trying to hyjack my Mariah thread. Heads will fucking ROLL.

@ Dilz --- yeah--Jermaine Dupree's sound is getting a bit stretched, but as long as he makes these kind of hits, he will be in demand.

    "...
I'm feeling all out of my element
    I'm throwing things
    Crying
    Trying to figure out
Where the hell I went wrong
The pain reflected in this song
    Ain't even half of what
    I'm feeling inside
    I need you
Need you back in my life baby!!"

FUCK YEAH!! Her desperation is UNPARALLELED!!

I FEEL you, bro. I call this video "Titanic Mariah" (she does seem to have phases).

Her songs ROCK. I really like that she has always written her own lyrics and melodies. Haters beware--she will be the most successful artist (via #1 songs before she retires).

I dunno, I mean when I 1st heard her stuff in the 90's, it was great & amazing how she sang that. In particularly the way she could hit those extremely high notes on a whim.

but it seems like lately she's been in a slowing down mode in her singing.

But 'til I hear the song you posted on VH1 and/or MTV, I can't make a fair judgement on it there, Lex.

I wanted to apologize--this thread is VERY self-indulgent.

After these very stressful weeks of posting, I needed to feel the love.

And no artist makes me feel it like MARIAH.

Matthew--MARRY ME!! Marry me and we will ride off in my SUV into the sunset with nothing but our love for each other and every Mariah Carey CD we collectively own with Stronzo and his hubby in the backseat.

    *Swoons*

    Lex, I do .

I don't think it's any accident that the Jermaine Dupri and the Atlanta sound were behind Mariah's comeback. He, Lil Jon and others are defining the game in terms of R&B and hip hop these days. They've got their finger on the right pulse, that's for sure. AND, Mariah's co-writers also penned Mary J. Blige's new one (Be Without You), which I hear every time I turn on the radio and am still not sick of either.
