I notice that a few members have a background image on their profiles. I can't seem to figure out how they accomplish this. Nothing in the "Customize Profile" section seems to control it. How is it done?

Note to the administration: These backgrounds, some of which are explicit, can be seen by non-members.

    It's just an html code.

control panel> customize profile> background image. You have to upload a background to your albums and copy the URL in that box.

Some users have the option turned off to see customised profiles (In Edit Options right at the bottom there is a checkbox to "Show User Customizations"). People who are not members do not see any images used as backgrounds - only registered members do.

Maybe that is why Industrialsize could not see the background.

My testing indicates otherwise. I logged out, was told all cookies deleted, closed my browser, and went back to LPSG without logging in. Thumbnails were blurred and all, but I still saw the background image on maximilian's profile. I reloaded, shift-reloaded, but the image was still there.

I normally use Firefox for this site, and have that set to remember my password, cookies etc. I just tried IE8 & Safari (neither of which I've used for this site so they don't have cookies / cached images etc) to view http://www.lpsg.org/members/maximilian.html and whilst I do see is his colour-scheme, I see no background image, and the thumbnails of his gallery pics are blurred.

You can turn on the customisations when you visit profiles - there is an option 'Show User Customisations' at the very right of the top black bar (the one that has 'Send Message' at the very left of it).

Finally, I did manage to make the background no longer display to me as a non-member guest. I had to delete temporary internet files to achieve that. I had assumed that the following would be sufficient, but it was not.

Earlier procedure: I logged out, was told all cookies deleted, closed my browser, and went back to LPSG without logging in. Thumbnails were blurred and all, but I still saw the background image on maximilian's profile. I reloaded, shift-reloaded, but the image was still there.

With that issue now resolved, I still have my original question: How do I set a background image on my own profile? (I can't find the option that seaside mentioned.)

It is exactly where Seaside says - CP - Customize Profile, then in the top frame (Called 'Main') it is on the bottom line, in the middle. Just ensure you note the warning about the image having to be in your Album (at the top of the page) and all should be well.

    See attached for guidance.

Can you tell me why my screen looks like this instead?

    Many thanks.

    Hmmmm - most odd !

I can't say for certain, but I don't see anything in your profile that would restrict that option.

One possibility springs to mind - could you try creating a new album & upload a test picture to it. Specify the Album is 'Profile' rather than public or private. Then see if you get the options to add images in your profile customization screen.
