First post in a long time people.

i'm gonna try to post more here :)

Now that my sex life's picked up I kinda need to :p

But onto this thread's namesake:

http://www.badgirlshotel.com/

Is it pornography or is it art?

I think its erotic art for the most part, but Bob Coulter's photography certainly seems to dance the line between porn and art..

Though, you have to ask yourself, what is art?

This photo project, shot at the carlton arms hotel contains absolutely brilliant situations, colors, textures and compositions.

Erotica, ahh how I love thee.

NOT WORK SAFE (not that this forum is anyway :p)

The girls were pretty, to be sure, but I found it to be largely lacking in a lot of areas. The colors were brilliant, but the composition wasn't all that impressive in my opinion, and some of the subject matter just seemed... Well... Uninspired. I think the models themselves were confused as to whether they were making porn or art. I got the feeling many of them weren't taking it seriously, which made it hard for me to do so.

Interesting post, though... I'd love to see more of this kind of material on here.

Of course its art, he uses available light.
Dude everything is art, some art is "pornographic" some art is not, some art is inbetween, but its all about creating an image, and at its basest art is about image making, the motivation means crap. The ceiling of the sistine chapel was nothing more than an illustration job for a pope, cave paintings were probably used for religious services as well. it was not about making a statement or finding a new ground, or anything like that. Art as we often think about it today as being a form of self expression is a very recent developement.

EDIT: By the way, when i say art is about image making, i mean visual art as this is the art I am most familiar with, of course there is performing art and music and such.
