I finally found the videos for the songs I mentioned earlier. Some of these were popular at one point but now it's as if nobody remembers them. These are just a few of my favorites.

E-rotic - Fred Come to Bed

La Bouche - Be My Lover

Mr. President - Coco Jambo

Centory - Take it to the Limit

I remember La Bouche! That song is still a great dance tune!

How about the Pousette-Dart Band?
This is/was a band out of Boston who had a famous lousy promoter
who really didn't put this bands records out there where they should have been.
Also the bass player was a beau of mine {John Troy}!

St. Etienne were pretty cool............Sarah Cracknell was friggin hot too. The Gourds are great......love "Layin' around the house". Idlewild, never a huge fan but they're ok.

I'm totally diggin Wolf Parade these days. They're from Montreal and they're awesome. Their first two albums were mega. Check out some of their stuff, seriously:

YouTube - Wolf Parade on Late Late Show

I've been lovin me some Wolf Parade lately. and the band of Montreal.

i'm sure no one has heard of him- Phillip Morris- check him out on myspace and youtube. this guy is probably one of the most talented amateur hip hop artists i've heard in a long time, and he's from Chicago too.

I'll say it again.

OPETH!

If you don't believe achingly beautiful death metal can exist, check them out.

Here's a non-metal piece showing their amazing mood ability...they're one of the few metal bands I've heard that can pull off the acoustic folky side of things with equal aplomb. I also mentioned Martin Lopez in the old "Best drummers of all time thread." Not the best, but a unique drummer in his ability to provide laid back jazz and Latin groove. And as my jazz drumset major points out "his rudiments and snare feel are incredible"

YouTube - Opeth - Harvest

Seriously, Blackwater Park is one of the best rock albums of this decade. If you can stand a bit of Satan growling.

99% of the stuff I like would be unknown to 99% of the members here, I think.

IMO, the most criminally overlooked act of the early 80s was Holly & The Italians. Their Right To Be Italian album was a brilliantly written and beautifully produced series of PopRock anthems:

Rock Against Romance

Miles Away

Youth Coup

Means To A Den

I had never heard to The Virgin Prunes until I downloaded some files last Summer, which is strange, because they are so quintessentially my kinda music. Their song Come To Daddy is provocatively, grotesquely brilliant.

Come To Daddy (studio version)

Come To Daddy (live version)

My favorite hopelessly obscure band reference, though, is still Flux Of Pink Indians :biggrin1:
