Being underage or spamming, trolling and attacking people. You should read the TOS as it's all explained in there.

Short version...

Don't spam.. this includes the starting of multiple threads about the same thing, advertising pay sites (and other things to make money)

Don't be under 18 (self explanitory)

Don't drag disputes from thread to thread

Racism, homophobia, sexism can all get you banned too. Read the ToS and its all set out there

 

Oh, we've been trying to figure that out for a while now.

A few are easy. Posters determined to be underaged, posting underaged photos, using multiple aliases, or previously banned members reappearing under new aliases seem to be the most common.

 

One of the most frustrating and yet intriguing 'bans' was longtime poster DoubleMeatWhopper, who not only created a completely fake persona, but then faked his own 'death', posing as his own brother, come to tell us about his 'accident'
yeesh.

 

Do we really need to go through all that again

 

Does anyone own the movie rights to this sordid tale??

 

Hopefully not, but if we start swearing and cursing then partake of some mud wrestl, err throwing, cranky Gillette may lock the thread, or ban us. Perhaps both. Just teasing.:wink: :biggrin1:

As already stated, reasons for bans are nominally at least, detailed in the TOS.

In my experience (though I don't hold all the answers) it takes more than one singular event to warrant a banning (unless ofc its something seriously bad like posting kiddie pics or whatever) :wink:

There have certainly been some interesting cases. LargeLarry is a good example. He certainly wasn't a simple troll, and was clearly no idiot. He did however manage to offend just about everybody, including me, but in my book simple generic offensiveness is not much of a cause for a ban. That's why God gave us the "ignore" button.

Had he regaled us with tales of incest, or subjected us to repetitive homophobic or misogynist rants, or dogmatically insisted that Barry Manilow is a great artist, then a ban would been pretty obviously justified. He didn't do anything like that, but was banned anyway. The mystery of "why" remains.

I'm fairly certain it was due to his repeated, offensive, stalker-type attacks upon at least two of our female members.

The mysterious banning frenzy is starting to get really weird. This afternoon there was a post by someone who registered under a modification of his old name, as he wasn't able to log in under the old one. He posted a question wondering what was going on. I looked up his posts under his old name, and sure enough, they had banned under the name. The posts themselves seemed pretty innocuous to me.

Now, there is no trace of this afternoon's post. I can't recall either name, but if the post was still here, I think I'd be able to spot it. I saw no such post in any forum here.

As I say, it's getting weird. I'd kind of like to know what the hell's going on.
