I had a room mate who was a graduate art student. It was the roomie who taught me to appreciate a broader swath of art. I learned to better appreciate the process so I could be more forgiving of the end product;that it need not conform to my expectations.

In that vein I found a new art form appreciation.

    YouTube - Barbie Transformation Tutorial

I've watched three of these videos by Michelle Phan. I'm impressed at many levels. Thought I'd share given the date night thread.

I am impressed and repelled at the same time. Amazing she could do that without a mirror. I have always felt cosmetics should highlight your good features, not to be used as something to start over on a blank canvas, but to each their own.

In the end I found it to have a calming element and highly artistic (in a way a painter might understand colors and its application).

Why did you find it repelling?

OMG. That makes me want to use a wet towel and wipe down a woman's face before I decide whether to approach her or not.

No matter how well set up something can be there is always the phobic.

I'm not personally into women that use more than eye liner, gloss, and clear nail polish. That said what else do you see here? Did you watch any of the other videos of hers?

[I don't like make up because so much of it is made using some real nasty stuff (i.e. human blood plasma)]

That made me want to wear makeup.

I'm sure she had a mirror next to the camera!

oh, no problem. i have tons more makeup artists on my thing. it's surprising how much you learn, even as a makeup artist, from those things. i'm thinking of starting my own makeup tutorials, but not sure yet. haha.

lmao. you like watching people shave? really? hm.
i've never found a fascination with that.

i have a weird thing with ingrown hairs and pimples, though.

not that i would watch a video on that...:paranoid:
