How long did you see someone before going bareback?
With a girlfriend that was not on birth control? I used condoms 99.9% of the time. When we were exclusive and she had a diaphragm, I got to experience bareback sex for the fist time.

With any casual encounters and hookups? Condoms were always used.

With the woman who is now my wife? We used condoms the first few times, until she explained to me why bareback would be okay, and then used condoms only at certain times of the month. After a few months, we've never used condoms ever again.

I would never not use condoms unless I was sure I was in a monogamous exclusive relationship, and if there was any worry or concern, getting tested.

Right on, @lapdog2001 - At first I was a condom user to responsibility for a pregnancy. After women's birth control pills were well established I was able to generally enjoy sex bareback until the HIV risk loomed - then, and now, condoms with any sex outside an established monogamous relationship. During that condomless period I think I contracted, and likely spread, Chlamydia - one of the common STD's. I guess was luck with respect to the other STD risks.

as others have said, with a hook up, condoms all the way.

in my current relationship we had discussed it early on, but only seriously did anything about it about 3 months in, got tested and continued using condoms till we had full raft of results back each. Following a discussion about monogamy - the only way i'll go bare is in a monogamous relationship - we agreed to go bare. I've also insisted that we continue to get tested every 6 months or so.

it does allow for a more spontaneous sex life for sure.

More spontaneous, and, my experience, more intense sensation :grinning: Good reasons for stable, exclusive relationships.

With my multi-year friends with benefits relationship with one woman (who was not monogamous and wasn't on birth control),
I used condoms primarily for my own protection. We tended to have spontaneous sex quite often, so I quickly learned to keep a few condoms in my jacket pockets, overnight bags, pants pocket if I knew I was seeing her somewhere, and always, always, always had a supply in the nightstand next to my bed.

Most of my 'sexual adventure' stories I've posted throughout the years here on LPSG would not have happened if I wasn't 'carrying'! ;)

Generally bare all the time to be honest. Get tested regularly and have a pool of sexual partners that does not change too much. As a poz UD gay man I always offer to use them, but if the other guy does not want me to then I generally don't.
