The unofficial start of the baseball season began today - as far as I'm concerned - with the Phillies playing against FSU and winning 6-1. They have two games coming up on March 3rd and 4th against the Yankees. Of course, they won't count toward standings but it should be interesting to see how the Yanks look in pre-season baseball.

Don't forget though, the Phillies have Jim "Anaconda" Thome back on the team, with his nickname supposedly coming from his size. Too bad they don't put length and girth on the team profiles. :biggrin1:

Yankees 8, Phillies 5 in their first spring training game. Cole Hamels looked good on the mound but I don't think he's going to be the Opening Day pitcher. Hunter Pence hit a home run early on in the game.

The Phillies losing? To the Pirates? Say it isn't so! Once again, as last season, the pitching has been good (although why Charlie continues to pull pitchers when they seem to be doing well only to have someone else come in and give up runs is beyond me) but no bat support. Hunter Pence did hit a HR today although it was all for nothing.
