I don't rightly know what my contribution is. In day to day life people merge with others (not in a smutty way-although, they may do that as well:smile. These mergers, mixings of minds and ideas, contributes in some way, be it good or bad.

Speaking of good and bad, who decides what is good and bad?

So, my contribution is whatever I leave in my wake. Whether it be a laugh, a sigh, a moment to pause and think-something has been left and therein you will find the contribution to society and the world as a whole.

Role on Earth? To be the best me possible and harm as few as possible along the way. (or would that be better listed as my goal?) I tend to try not to think about all of this too much-

I've made contributions as a mathematician, a teacher (currently a professor), a minister in our church, a father, a husband and a friend to many.

I'm also the owner and CEO of three substantial consulting companies, one in statistics, one in training and one in investments, that supplies outstanding services and employment for about 200 people.

I also own a wine farm that produces top class connoisseur wines. About 50 people are employed on the farm itself and about 60 people in marketing and distribution around the world.

That sounds about right for me as well. I have a few friends for whom I am some sort of symbolic touchstone or moral compass. I have taught in the public school system, taught Sunday School, I have been kind and generous to many people expecting nothing in return. I'd like to think I taught a few men how to love. Other than that I haven't a damn clue why I am here. Lately, I think it's to amuse the Gods.

Well said. That's what I see myself as. I can do a lot of things, but not many very well. My biggest talent is being able to talk about any subject for at least an hour, usually more.

Comparing myself to others never makes me feel better for some reason. It more often than not makes me feel worse - thinking of all the stuff I don't have and can never have. I bothers me less and less as I get older though.

It's too bad most talents are defined by the society and the time and age in which you live.

Whether it is a good or bad talent is often dictated by people who judge them and rarely determined by yourself.

I take great joy in annoying the crap out of my cousin, by teaching her 7 year old son to do things like armpit farts, and when he burps I taught him to say. " 'scuse me, did I get any on ya." :biggrin1: When he was 4, I taught him how to chew gum and blow bubbles. :tongue:


Oddly, she doesn't let me babysit for him much anymore.
