The forum owner/admins have already decided they don't tolerate homophobia, racism or misogyny/misandry. It is stated in the ToS. When you register as a member, you agree to the Terms of Service.

Content whose primary purpose is to disrupt or inflame - This includes homophobic, racist and sexist content and general trolling. Trolling covers a vast array of behavior but mainly revolves around members who consistently post in a manner which they know will upset others, members who insist on going off-topic to serve their own agenda (which has nothing to do with the topic at hand).

Of course not that it always gets enforced to everyone's liking, but that's way the cookie crumbles I suppose. As a member, we always have the right to press the report button when something pops up which we see violating the ToS. Or, we have the right to leave as dolfette did due to general disgust on her particular part.

I understand you have your own ideas about how this place should be run but they (Rob/the admins) have those rules in place because as you say, they decide how LPSG will function.

Except I tend to agree with AE, the community also helps decide how this place is run. Not too long ago Flamey (a moderator) was taking suggestions from members about revisions to the ToS regarding the Women's Issues section area. He took one member's idea and made the change that member suggested.

Ah, right, well that's two mistakes I've made then. First was to assume that there weren't any specific rules in place about hate speech (hopeless idealist, signing in!), and the second as you have just pointed out was that misogyny is covered in the ToS (I took what someone said earlier about there being a rule for racism/homophobia but none for misogyny without really thinking about it or checking, so more fool me). That second point in particular means the distinction I was trying to make between the individuals and the group and what one individual should expect, is entirely moot. I mean if the rules are there then as much as I would disagree with them AE, dolfette, or any member of the forum has the right to expect them to be upheld.

But anyway, I haven't half stunk this thread up something rotten over the last couple of days, so I think it'd be for the best if I left it be. It's not as though I haven't managed to get my views across. :tongue:

Actually I kind of hope not. MR, Dolfette and MickeyLee are gone. I had kind of started to enjoy all of their posts. I would hate to see her go as well. She has always given me good advice even if we haven't always agreed on everything. But if we all agreed this would be a boring place.
