I read an article recently about a national poll, about how people respond to beautiful people vs. ugly or not so good looking people. The article said that good looking people are treated better, I find this hard to believe, what do y'all think?

my experience has been that beautiful people get better treatment and more respect that average joe's such as myself. I think it all goes back to that survival of the fittest thing....you know who ever looks better has the best genes, and therefore will make beautiful healthy babies

I find this totally credible.
Looks shouldn't make a difference but they do.
Good-looking people get better jobs, better pay, marry better-looking people, are assumed more intelligent ... there's a long list.
That doesn't mean that lots of average or even rather ugly people don't do very well, of course.
Henry Miller, the writer, was distinctly average, at best, in appearance, but he had woman crawling all over him and his charisma won him friends everywhere.
There are lots of such examples.
But the really good-looking people seem to start half a step ahead of the rest of us.

Obviously this isn't how things "should" be, but I am very surprised that you could get to this point in life without observing this for yourself.

You look like an attractive guy. You probably take it for granted. I'm an attractive guy, too, but that only happened in the last five years so I'm a lot more conscious of how "the other half" live.

People don't necessarily judge you on your looks, but they sure do change their behavior based on them.

There can be a backlash type effect. Some people automatically have less respect for a beautiful woman, for instance.

These people are in the minority.

Also, in "the scheme of things", it matters somewhat to me what people look like. I love my girlfriend, everything about her. If she weren't attractive, I probably wouldn't be with her, though. It matters.

On a big dick worship site like this, I find it hard to believe that someone finds physical attributes totally meaningless.

I saw a piece on 20/20 where they had good looking people and not so good looking people do different things. Like order coffee, hail a cab etc and the good looking people got better service all the way around. Its true but, it sucks.

I think good looking people are more introverted and shy because they know everyone is looking at them, just my opinion.

I am biased, but I believe that my mother is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. She looks like Christie Brinkley. Anyway, she said that in med school, she was never taken seriously, but now she is Chief Trama Surgeon/Doc and once people see her title and listen to her talk they forget how pretty she is.

Of course we are - nothing in this world will bring you longer than good looks and charm.

I agree, beautiful people are treated better than average/ugly people. As mentioned in an earlier response, this isn't the first study on it. I've heard of others and they all come to the same conclusion.

Also studies have indicated that beautiful people are given lower penalties in court than average/"ugly" for the same crimes.. That perhaps should make you worry a bit.
