Thank for you succinctly and accurately answering the question

And who is this their you speak of? Hopefully not the regular folk, who will already be paying more for health insurance, despite a multiple thousand dollar drop in take home pay.

Just and offside shoot here. Australia became a country and self sufficient, built on convicts and a number of free people, just a few boatloads.

Australia then became a nation fighting in 2 world wars, sending troops to the other side of the world on a poulation of 10 or 11 million people, yet, self sufficient, growing with it's manufacturing and natural resources. (thank you US for your support)

Now, all of a sudden in the past 15 years or so, Australia is dependent on the rest of the world (Asia) for it's financial survival. Even though we have the capability to do it all.

Many of you may not know, Australia was one of the pioneers and forerunners of space exploration. Just that the government of the time thought it was not worth while following up and sold our tech and expertise to neighbouring countries.

Like now, neither political party has the best interests of this country or it's future in mind at this point in time. Political degenerates.

Now, "Economy Professors" tell us (with degrees) we need a population of 60 million to survive. Funny how when experts these days tell us we can't accomplish something without following their advice, we either listen or we will perish..

As 'Free' Australian citizens we are fined for not voting. I have always been of the notion our guys fought along side yours for the right to vote....or not, if we so wish. Apparently not. Democracy has a different meaning here.

Assuming you're being forthright, that is astonishing.

As you can see, these laws were passed in the early 1900's. Yet 'they' tell us now how much 'our' country has changed. Yet cling to laws that only serve 'them'. Compulsory Voting - Australian Electoral Commission

Our polling may be via secret ballot, hahahahahahahahaa ha. It's secret but compulsory.

I can think of an argument I posted earlier that should make all arguments that came before defunct.

Men and Women died for us to have the freedom to choose whether we wish to vote, or not. I have a couple of good friends that are pollies. They can't answer this one either. It serves them. Not us.

I know where you're going with this, and while I'm still adamant about my belief of voting as a privilege and not a right, this is Naziism.

I'm not sure the Nazis went out of their way to get people to vote. But I too question voting as a requirement.

Well, to be fair, they did want folks voting, but they "went out" to make sure they voted in a certain way.

Also, this was pre-we're just going to try and exterminate Jews became the rule there.

I don't really have a problem with compulsory voting (you aren't forced to select a candidate btw) but I'd argue that there should be a 'none of the above' option on the ballot paper.

The Nazis were never popularly elected.

The Nazis were never popularly elected.

They did win the highest share of the popular vote in the 1932 Reichstag elections, and once in power held parliamentary elections in 1933, 1936, and 1938. But since by that time they had made Germany a single-party state, voters weren't presented with much choice.

Update:

House Republicans on Wednesday held Benghazi hearing number 1,372,569, give or take, and this time they were determined to find the proof that had eluded them in the previous 1,372,568: that Obama administration officials had put politics before national security.

Alas for the accusers, this hearing went the way of the others.

Latest Benghazi hearing is another Republican flop

What is it the repubs are trying to prove? That they are better shit disturbers than the other guys? That they would rather waste time and tax dollars on shit disturbing, rather than actually working to better this country and it's citizenry?
Try as I might, I can't think of a single bill they generated and/or passed that actually benefitted the majority of American citizens. All you hear about is how they have helped their corporate buddies and the 1%. They even screw their own middle-class supporters, which makes you wonder why those constituents don't understand how their own party has abandoned them.

You got me. Ignorance? Stupidity? Just don't like Democrats?

Or maybe they hate something or someone else SO much that they'd just as soon f**k themselves in the process.

Go figure.
