Danny Saucedo and Eric Saade are absolutely not straight. Neither is Anton Ewald. Danny has talked about thinking he was gay (!) and his need to be Catholic, and Anton claimed he went through a period with a similar struggle at the same time he was drugging himself. Eric is married now but he has not only kissed Danny in public over and over but has been seen doing this off-camera with other guys. I don't know if these guys are more gay than bi but their wanting to be famous and accepted explains a lot, especially in Sweden. Of guys in this group of Swedish pop stars only Victor Frisk has come out as bisexual (and also somewhere on the bipolar scale).

Sweden has a relatively good record on gay issues, but as a Swede I can tell you being different is not easy in Swedish society. Consensus and being part of the norm very much affect Swedish consciousness. If sexuality is your issue and you see yourself being accepted in the position of the happy Swedish family with kids, that is where you do not rebel but fuck guys on the side. I'm out, go to pride etc. but my issues are professional and struggling with the lack of education of so many of my colleagues and I am constantly censoring myself to fit in. And I have been kissed and flirted with by "straight" guys (including at work) when they're drunk at some party or function. Most Swedes at least in some ways really do not want to be seen as contrary at least in some way in normal life.

Benjamin may be truly bi and the girlfriend real, but from all the signs (including from his own mother) I'd bet he's gay-leaning-bisexual.
Benjamin sexted with a girl, so the nudes were leaked by a girl (or probably someone pretending to be that girl). I know handsome men who have DM'ed him on Instagram, and he doesn't even see their messages, while he often responds to girls. I feel like Benjamin is more open to people in general, but straight.

It's interesting that all those big Melodifestivalen stars (Saade, Ingrosso, Saucedo) may be bisexual. What's the pattern...

Ever heard the proverb: "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down"?
Society in Japan and Scandinavia

People clearly give too much power to public opinion. I cant ever see myself living a life where I have to “fit in” because someone I don’t know doesn’t like my sexuality. And since legally I have the same rights as them, why should I conform? It’s something I guess I wont understand.

there's a producer/composer who wrote the hits for Saade, Saucedo etc... Maybe he just finds new meat and promotes them=)

(no offense, but I think it is really what's happening)

Wow. That’s a shame. I always pictured Sweden to be more liberal. I live in the UK & I’d say 90% of people here in 2019 don’t give a shit about people being gay. Most families even have an LGBT member. Of course homophobia still exists & I’ve lived under a conservative government for 9 years but I don’t feel like I have to fit in & I don’t want to. We have a population of around 65 million so I guess huge multiculturalism plays into acceptance. Hopefully it changes in the mind of Swedes in the future.

Don't get me wrong. The majority of people in Sweden (as far as I know and have been treated, as an out gay man), are very gay-accepting, at least 50 and under and then most who are older. There's a large significant gay-friendly presence in mass media. All but one political party openly supports gay equality (even the Christian Democrats, who opposed gay marriage).

The difference in Swedish culture is only self-censorship because there is a powerful pull to be felt as part of the larger social group. Sweden has only become openly diverse in the last 30 years ago. Private lives were private and public appearance is where one wants to see much of the same. But it's hard to change the culture. The Swedish kids dress more alike than anywhere I've ever been. It's a very subtle thing that we are not every formally taught but something one just feels. It's easier to go along with the consensus publicly and be really different in private.

I teach at a major university in Sweden and have taught in other countries (Germany, Denmark, US). I was one of three openly gay people in a very large department. The other two (both lesbians) have left, and two gay men who were out to me were closeted at work. I am now the only one who is out at work. And it's almost 2020.

who would’ve thought I’d learn so much from a website like this LOL! Thanks man! I really love Sweden but cant say I know too much about its people & this has given me an insight. Still good opinions towards Sweden!

Why are you surprised, haven't you seen his bestie Felix Sandman? There are pics of them hugging and cozing

and kissing

What did his mom say/hint exactly? I'm curious

More to the point, she said she thought he was likely gay. She didn't say why. It could've just been a mother's suspicion and not a very fair assessment, but she said it. I don't remember the context but it was repeated when he was kissing Felix Sandman.

Does it really matter? The dude clearly feels super comfortable to be affectionate with males as he is females. He’s so young to probably care about labels.

I think he mentioned a while back it was because he liked to dress up and do musicals? I remember in an interview he said that his mom affirmed to him that she'd be completely fine & accepting if he did turn out gay, and for some time he thought he was. But Benjamin didn't know what gay was, he thought it was just like, liking to dress up & liking musicals. But he got turned off after realizing that being gay means he was gonna end up with a guy (lol).

Doesn't rule bisexuality though hey :yum

I didn't say it mattered. The question was asked what his mother said. I've never heard that explanation from Benjamin, but it's silly, He would have had to be really young or stupid. But whatever, and I think you're right, who knows what he is.

But it is interesting that of these Melo twinks Danny S. and Anton E. both said they thought it when they were younger (and have made out with guys more than once), Oscar Zia and Victor Frisk came out. Benjamin wants to be a star but is part of a group of people who do not behave like typical straight men. If he comes out as bi later, I won't be surprised.

he does remind me of Harry Styles his sexuality is ambiguous
