You really just have to put yourself out there on all of them, be clear about what you're looking for, be open to meeting people and dating, and you never know when you'll find "Mister Right" somewhere mixed in with the "Mister All Be Right Overs."

Every relationship I've been in, including a 17 year marriage, came via random chatting via a hookup site/app. My last relationship was going to be a quick hookup through a hookup app and turned into 4 years. My current relationship is coming up on 2 years and was also some random chatting about video games on a hookup app that turned into a date that sorta never ended.

There are more relationship-oriented apps like Tinder and PlentyofFish and OK Cupid. But there's way more hookup apps and you should be on them too because you never know where you'll run into someone you click with. The only way to find people is to put yourself out there.

Be very clear about what you want. And when people hit you up clearly ignoring that, you can use the block button liberally. Sure, saying your looking for dating and a relationship doesn't mean you can't also have a little fun -- and you should. If you're not used to dating, the only way to get good at it, and to learn to suss out the bullshit is to actually go out on a lot of dates. Anyone who can't hold a conversation for more than an hour or a few days may not be worth your time. But make sure you can hold up your end too!

You never know who you'll meet... and you WILL never know if you don't put yourself out there.

Good luck!
