Aside from my preference for best Bond girl (noted in an above post) I kinda agree with j.els's first list - with the exception of Pussy Galore.

She just didn't do it for me (and maybe it was that subtle characterization that you say was only hinted at in the film). I said I hate wimpy women. But by the same token a woman can be proud, accomplished, sure of oneself, strong-willed, capable, and independent; and still be a damned sexy woman (like Tracy DiVicenzo/Dianna Rigg so marvelously demonstrated.)

On the other hand, if the woman seems to do a better job at "wearing the pants" than the guy does (aka Pussy Galore) then it's a bit of a turn off...for me that is.

As for your second list...spot on. All of them totally useless. (Well, maybe not... totally...)

that was Xenia Onatopp. (GoldenEye) i freaking loved her. squeezed men with her thighs and got off while doing it. plus, she's played by Famke Janssen, who i also love as an actress.

You like Famke Janssen Will? I would never have guessed. :biggrin1:

Famke Janssen...good lord that woman did things for me in that role!

I wholeheartedly agree Hazel. I wanted to fuck her, and I'm gay for chrissakes.

I also concur with the Diana Rigg votes. While I don't swing with girls too often, apparently all one has to do is dress in a tight black leather jumpsuit and start kicking major ass and I'm in deep smit.

The movie has not finished shooting yet, but I am guessing that Olga Kurylenko is going to be my favorite. If I had to pick one from the past I would have to go with Ursula Andress. I love Diana Rigg too, but Ursula as Honey Ryder in that white bikini... goddamn!

Never could figure the fascination with Pussy Galore though. Here we have other bond girls who kicked ass along side ol' J.B. thru the whole flick...gals like Jinx Johnson, Wai Lin, and Teresa di Vicenzo (Dianna Rigg) who even was honored by having Bond theme music played for her during one of her fight sequences, and yet all this fuss over P. Galore. What...she appeared all of 10 minutes maybe? 15 tops? Must be the name.

Maybe to get equal billing all future bond girls need similar names. Lessee...we could have Pussy Grande, the delicious Pussy con Queso, Pussy No Mas, the voracious Pussy Pussy Pussy, and the ever enigmatic Pussy Manana.

Part of it is the movie itself. No Bond film is as iconic as Goldfinger. From the opening to closing credits, it's an amazing ride ranging from the very cool to the very ridiculous. It might not seem like a big deal now, but when the film debuted, Honor Blackman's first line, "My name is Pussy Galore," sent movie houses into cheers from the men, gasps from the good girls, and smirks from the bad girls. Her entrance is the stuff of film legend.

Galore represents women of a sort just being discovered in film and TV. There were no other women of remotely her power being portrayed on screen and certainly not as villainesses. About the only contemporary Pussy Galore had was Natasha Badenov. Though the theme of Bond turning the bad girl to his side would be repeated in later movies, the idea began here.

And Galore was not just beautiful. She was smart, pragmatic, and talented. Being a lesbian, she represented Bond's greatest challenge. If he couldn't convince Galore to sabotage Operation Rock-a-by Baby with his cock, then what else could he use? Bond has bumbled through the entire film, being thwarted in one way or another by his own sense of duty and chivalry or Goldfinger himself. There is a certain fantasy many men have of, "fucking a lesbian straight," and Bond, being Bond, managed to do that though we don't know it until late in the film. We also discover that had it not been for Galore, Bond would have utterly failed in his mission. In essence, cock won over pussy (and Pussy). That's a powerful psychological message to send the vastly male fans of the Bond franchise. Bond went on to deflower or otherwise, "pump women for information," but none of those women were as formidable as Pussy Galore. They were all either ambivilent about their positions in the film, naive, or allied with Bond to begin with. The only other woman of questionable sexual orientation was May Day and she turns to the good side not because of Bond, but because of Zoran's betrayal of May Day and her apparent lovers who die as Zoran executes his plot.

oh really? and i thought the avatar said it all. but yes, GoldenEye was the beginning of love. Insane woman who could kill you without any weapons and get off while doing it? fucking beautiful. lol. It only strengthened with her role in Nip/Tuck, and the X-Men trilogy. i think my head exploded when i heard that she was playing Jean Grey, another hot character who can kill you with ease. *swoons*
