Yes, they're very good. But, according to Indie Theory, for every one "ZOMG BEST BAND EVARZZZ!!1", there's 5 better ones you just haven't heard of yet (which, coincidentally enough, is part of the reason why they're so much better).
Me no like Arcade Fire
The Arcade Fire sucks.
Try listening to something like Pavement, Built to Spill, or Guided by Voices. A lot better. And people will still be listening to them in 5 years.
not a rock band. but you boys need pretty and soulful in your life too.
hurray for the riff raff.. just the most beautiful sound you will ever hear.
Indie? laughable...great act... but not an "indie"
Pavement came first to mind. Malkmus... I bought in a bit late, but buy it over the last X years.
Firehose... long before Pavement... Mike Watt can't be denied. Nor can the whole San Pedro lingo in tow.
Umm.... thinking out loud..... REM might be an "original" indie act.
X was "indie" and unidentifiable for a whilst there, too.
(whacks his own knuckles for "indie sacrilege")
p.s. Sonic Youth
can Dinosaur Jr be included?...
Ghosts of Pasha
Definitely going to second Faceking on Dinosaur jr., X, and Sonic Youth.
As for fIREHOSE.....all I heard was Brave Captain....good shit. Mike Watt's solo stuff is cool. Big Train, Big Train, do you want to ride the big train? LOL
As for Pavement......stick to Pavement, not Malkmus solo stuff or with the Jicks, that's shit, IMO. Malkmus' great voice is wasted with some terrible music. I'm in the minority but I think "Terror Twilight" was Pavement's masterpiece (I haven't heard Slanted and Enchanted, but I have heard the other 4 albums)
Neutral Milk Hotel
I'm going to start a war here.... Blur :biggrin1:
Blur > Oasis.
Neutral Milk Hotel has some pretty good songs....Song Against Sex and Holland, 1945 are great. A lot of their stuff is a little too weird for me, tho.
Conchis, if you like NMH, you should check out Dr. Dog or Olivia Tremor Control. They're more accessible than NMH and they sound a lot like the Beatles.
They better be! :biggrin1:
 Although, as Stan mentioned, Blur was good, too.
Such good alternative musical taste!
PJ Harvey??? :disappointed:
this lot are high up on the list too Interpol
(I like PJ Harvey, Sweetass)
