I agree...except I bought a new pair last year and they just don't fit like they used to. I used to buy 501's all through the 80's and the current versions don't feature the same.
If you have the vintage ones, DO NOT give them up. Now I see why they are so expensive on Ebay and in the used clothes boutiques here.
Yep, they have changed them. They are way looser fitting at the crotch, because young guys aren't wearing them pulled up to their waists.
Adapted them to appeal to teen, hipster,"sagger", dudes that wear them so low that they are belted below the buttocks.
It is the strangest look in male fashion that I can imagine... Taking classic jeans that prominently showed off not only your bulge, but also your ass, and converting them to show nothing at all, with the back pockets down behind the knees, is blasphemous to me... But at least I get to see their booties (if they have one), hanging out, usually in vividly colored underpants.
It is so weird... I have yet to hear from a woman who finds this "look" attractive, and it is almost common knowledge that a man, in prison, wearing his pants that low is begging for a butt-fucking, but most of these guys identify as "straight".
These dudes walk around my college campus, either holding up their pants with a hand at the crotch, or constantly pulling them up, like every 30 seconds! What a strange waste of energy in the name of fashion... It makes them look like thumb-sucking idiots... And, what man in his right mind would want to make his legs look
SHORTER?
I got a good laugh the other day watching a "sagger' dude running to catch a bus, his pants going right to the ground, tripping him...
It's almost like they are self-sabotaging themselves with their pants.
Kids these days!.. lol

PS: On a good note... Button-fly Levi's are popular again, sales have boomed, and hopefully won't disappear in our lifetime.
