I disagree with nominating soundtracks that were based on a Broadway musical... but if we are doing that I would include Chicago, but then I would also include Funnygirl and Mame.

My nominations that were not included are Out Of Africa, Dr. Zhivago and The Hunger.

I'm a fan of slightly more contemporary popular culture/cult/iconic soundtracks....
Certain of the soundtracks coming to mind are:
-Go
-Kill Bill (most soundtracks following a Tarantino/Rodrigues collaboration are pretty
wicked)
-The Rules of Attraction (can't get enough of this soundtrack)
-Love Actually (i'm a soppy/hopeless romantic, and every track on that album brought
memories of the film)
-Moulin Rouge.....come on.....
-I'll second Lord of the Rings and 3rd Chicago. ;)

Personally for me soundtrack are hard b/c they're usually comprised of 30 second music pieces mixed in w/longer ones. It's easier to love a soundtrack if it moves along like maybe Grease or Yentl. It doesn't have to have hit records to be enjoyable but something like the 2 i mentioned are enjoyable throughout.
