Definitely A-Ha - "Take On Me"!!!

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Peter Gabriel - "Sledgehammer" yet either! Great video...

And this one...

James - "Laid" (this is the radio edit though - didn't find the uncensored version...)
YouTube - James - Laid

And here are some of my new favorites...

The Shins - "Saint Simon"

Gets me so fired up. Watch it to the end to get the full effect.

YouTube - Carbon Leaf - War Was In Color

warning no big cocks.

Whoa. Brought a tear to my eye.

The end was frigging hilarious!

Massive Attack have some great videos.I think this one is my favourite...

YouTube - Karmacoma - Massive Attack feat. Tricky

Whoa! Intense. Sort of The Shining meets Pulp Fiction if you know what I mean.

Some good choices,I haven't got through them all yet.I like the mixture of animation and photography in this Shins video.
Here's a great (but cruel!) animated vid by Mogwai...
YouTube - Hunted By A Freak

Whoa! Intense. Sort of The Shining meets Pulp Fiction if you know what I mean.
There are quite a few cinematic references there but The Shining is the most striking one for me.Music videos should all try to be this good!

A-ha - Take on Me

Nickelback - Savin' Me

Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

Michael Jackson - Billie Jean & Thriller

Sarah McLachlan - Fallen

Evanescence - Call me When You're Sober

Excellent choices the Aha, Soundgarten, M. Jackson viddys (not familiar with the others)... also the Tears for Fears one mentioned by I-978. Good videos for me have to be combined with likeable music. If I don't like the ditty I'll probably not like the viddy.

Add to the above a few of my favs (right off the top of my head):

Enigma "T.N.T for the Brain"
Fleetwood Mac "Hold Me" and "Gypsy"
Wang Chung "Everybody Have Fun Tonite" (interesting to watch)
Outkast "Hey Ya"
The Clash "Rock the Casbah"

and my pick for a great live vid:

DEVO "Uncontrollable Urge" live (from Urgh a Music War).

YouTube - Richie Kotzen - "Sara Smile" (Unplugged)

I don't like music videos; they always seem so contrived. I prefer live music. If you see or hear something there you know it wasn't manufactured in a studio.

PS watch the staccato 3/4 of the way through

I saw Hall and Oates in concert when they were at their peak. Never knew anyone else covered that and never heard of that singer. Cool!

Nice cover of a Hall & Oates classic.

Yesterday I was pondering whether MTV, VH-1 and like ever run music videos anymore. They were the shit when I was a kid...

I used to love those channels when they first started, but whenever I'm channel surfing and come across either MTV or VH-1, they never have any music on. Seems like everyone has a reality show these days.
Videos were something in their day, but eventually they'll go the way of 8 track, cassettes, albums, and other dinosaurs. I just found out recently that videos are available on Yahoo.

Yahoo! Music Videos

I rarely listen to any of today's music. I'm still listening to 60's, 70's and 80's. When music stopped being about good vocals, I stopped listening. Once in a while someone like Chris Daughtry will come along and catch my attention, but good vocalists are few and far between.

Likewise and agreed. Whenever someone is talking about pop music I usually find myself saying "Who the hell is that?". Very few exceptions unless they happen to be involved in scandal du jour.

Music is shit today. Take for instance Michael Buble. He might have a good voice (I wouldn't know) but the songs are just so shit. Really poor lyrics. Also that Shayne Ward whose songs are just basically saying 'look at me aren't I fit, all the girls want to sleep with me'...Leona is better. Sexy girl with a sexy voice. Her songs are better written. I imagine her having a team of writers writing songs for her. Bleeding Love seems to be the best, heard another one of her songs and it doesn't have the same 'hit' quality (Take A Bow).

Anyway...

Rap music is also dominant, I'm REALLY not into that.

I don't watch the music TV channels, they're overrun with shite. I listen to the radio

Erm... his abilities aside, you do know that he primarily performs American "standards" written by some of the most brilliant composers and lyricists to have ever lived... right?
