Best place to sell VHS tapes

I have a rather large collection of top-of-the-line adult videos which I'd like to sell. The collection includes lots of interracial stuff, Asian-themed, amateur, anal-themed, actual plot-driven "big-budget" porn -- all kinds of stuff by major companies. They're all still in their original boxes and are in near mint condition. But it's all VHS. Can anyone give me some info on what a good ballpark asking price would be per tape...or for the entire 70 tape collection? Or is VHS completely worthless now, even if the movies themselves are excellent?

Well since most older porn is now on dvd,you may wanna give them to someone who might enjoy them.I dont see a huge market these days for vhs.I could be very wrong.If they are original "not copys" you may be able to donate them to "out of the closet" a thrift store that donates its money for aids patients etc.That way you can write them off as a tax deduction.Good luck.

I think u could sell them if u advertised. People still have VCRs so they can play their old vhs tapes. My mother does. I copy them to dvd for her. Thats what people could do with yours. If theyre originals then they should copy really well to dvd. Advertise them.

In terms of making much cash, its unlikely people will pay much for VHS titles anymore. I used to have a huge collection of mainstream (ie not porn) films and I ended up donating most of them to charity stores.

If you have any major titles in there, I know the Museum of Sex in NYC always welcomes donations of classic titles. You could also try craigslist and you may strike gold with a porn fanatic!

Good advice from everyone, including Kotchanski, whose reply somehow got lost in the shuffle.

I get the impression from your replies that my initial feeling was right -- VHS is kind of obsolete. At first, as I was going through my collection, contemplating what to keep and what to get rid of, I was hoping to get maybe $5 per tape (they originally cost me up to $40-50 each). Ultimately, I decided to keep only 6 tapes. It was then that I realized I had nearly 70 remaining to sell. I'm guessing no one in their right mind is going to give me $350 for a box full of VHS porn.

Donating them to a charity, or even Goodwill (if they accept such things) would allow me to right off a good value...but not until next year's taxes. I kind of need the money now. Perhaps I could trade the whole box for a tank of gas.

Dubbing them onto DVD ain't a bad idea either, but a lot of bother, not to mention possibly illegal when my intent is to sell. Thanks for all the ideas though.

You could also try ebay, a bulk set of classic porn tapes could find the right buyer, you may not get a ton of cash for it, say $100 possiby, but it could be worth a try!

While growing up there were certain things which I always looked forward to. One was something which would be quite helpful to you for selling off these tapes.

Each September and October we were encouraged to clear our closets and shelves of any unwanted goods which were still in good condition. Then in late November or early December these items were sold at the Holiday Fair at the church. Yes, a church fair would be the best place to unload those tapes-and given the nature of them, I can guarentee you that they'd all sell rapidly (you'd be amazed how sexually needy many of those church men are).

The other good thing about the church fairs is that they usually have old VCRs for sale as well.

I would try ebay, there are collectors around the world looking for things like that.
