It's been a decade since I lived in NYC, and I was not a fancy eater. There are a few places I miss sometimes. Most of them are probably gone now. But I recently learned one is still there: Veselka, a Polish/Ukrainian place on 2nd Ave. downtown. I miss the pierogis and latkes and blintzes. You can't get those things in Texas, hardly.

I can give you a tip or two for Midtown East/UN district.

It may seem like an odd recommendation, but I found one of the best wine lists in New York at Michael Jordan's Steakhouse on Grand Central Station—and the food was excellent, too. While you're there, drop into the Campbell Apartment, one of America's coolest bars

Close second for the best steak in NYC is Sparks on E46th

And for my money, you can't go past Mee Noodle on 2nd Av for cheap, awesome and blindingly fast Chinese food—I lived around the corner on E 47th, and once clocked them at seven minutes between hanging up the phone and delivery to my door! When they say spicy, they mean it

Enjoy!
