Just a quick one.

What's peoples opinions on the best service for sending large files (say for example - a movie file, perhaps 200/500 megs in length - just for examples sake)

Rapidshare, mediafire, etc?

I prefer utorrent as a client, but yes torrent is your best bet. It has the advantages of if you lose connection, you don't have to download everything again, because you lose almost nothing. It sends data in pieces. Another advantage is once people have your torrent complete, they can become seeders (people who have the file to get from), thus increasing the speed and reliability to those who are currently leeching.

In fact if you have two leechers and no seeders, but their combined data adds up to the full thing, they wont even need a seeder because they can get the missing data from each other.

And finally none of the data isn't hosted on a server (like rapidshare), so there is a less chance of it being removed for some reason (I'll let your imagination wonder why).

You'll need a tracker though, but a lot of sites provide that service for free.
