Homocide: life on the street

its' also the best use of phenomenal music in a dramatic series. seriously just go download every song on the series playlist , you won't need anything else on your ipod for at least a year.

and Andre Braugher is the worlds most under appreciated actor. ever. he's on house now in a role severely underserving him. his career needs a facebook campaign jump start.

Of those not yet mentioned in this thread:

Some personal faves:

The Wild, Wild West
It Takes a Thief
Alias
Police Woman
Modern Family

Slightly guilty pleasure:

Switch (Robert Wagner and Eddie Albert)
The Feather and Father Gang (very short-lived show about father/daughter confidence team, starring Stephanie Powers (pre-Hart to Hart) and Harold Gould (on the heels of his excellent turn in The Sting).

The Twilight Zone courtesy of Binghamton NY native Rod Serling.

And a hat tip to others who have already mentioned:

Mission: Impossible - long stretches with no dialogue and very spare music, if any

The Wild, Wild West - c'mon, Artemus Gordon in those disguises? Far more entertaining than Robert Conrad

Star Trek TNG
- I always loved how Worf wanted to shoot first and ask questions later

and I'm a little disappointed nobody mentioned

The A Team - yes, I know, I know - but I *still* enjoy catching an episode now and then.

I'm only going to state finished stuff.

The Golden Girls
Friends
(Both of them stayed consistently funny throughout their entire run, even if Friends had some bad plots points now and then)
Pushing Daisies - a piece of my heart died when they ended the show. So quirky and romantic.

I haven't stuck it out with alot of series for their entire runs. I stayed for Nip/Tuck which went up and down constantly with quality and The O.C which had a horrible 3rd season, but ended on a good note.

I'm sure i'm leaving out all kinds of stuff.

Homicide: Life on the Street was amazing...almost too good for network TV

OZ: eye candy aside...IMHO one of the best written shows of my lifetime

Twilight Zone: a classic. Each episode seems like a time machine into the U.S.'s mentality at the height of post-war prosperity and cold-war paranoia.

Arrested Development: was like it is designed to tailor my sense of humor. (Lindsey and Tobias hawking herbal supplements at a Holistic trade show...Linds says "im tired of selling self-medication and lies....im going to the bar"). Plus Jessica Walter's character was basically my paternal grandmother.

South Park: Unlike FamGuy, which is relying more on shock humor these days, the themes are getting more poignant
