So I've been using coconut oil for pumping for a while, but it seems to be irrating my glans to the point where any amount of pumping makes them really painful and i've suddenly begun to see spotting on them. even after taking a long (months) break from pumping, and using vitamin e lotion to help it heal.

it's just as I've been seeing significant gains while pumping, too. more than i've ever had, easily breaking 8 inches consistently with my 2.25" diameter pumping, and consistently packing my 2.5" diameter pump. I used vaseline for a bit, putting a significant amount on my glans, which really did help, but twice I got a uti from doing so (I guess because the vaseline trapped moisture, thus making stuff in the urethra stagnate/fester?) I've never gotten utis in my life before, as I'm very neurotic about being clean in general.

anyone have good options for a lube to use while pumping that works like vaseline that provides a protective layer over the glans? or have some way for my glans to fully heal and go back to their old durability? I had been pumping for 3 years at the same levels/consistency with no problems whatsoever, but over the last 6 months-1 years my glans seem to be very sensitive, prone to injury/blisters, and discolored.

Glans caps are available on the internet, but may slow glans gains while pumping.

What vacuum pressure are you using, and for how long? Bruising, petichia (spotting) or blisters are all the result of excessive pressure or time. No lotion, coating etc. will prevent this...understand the mechanics (hydraulics, really) involved....the vacuum is forcing tissue to expand. It can't expand unless something fills the void space created by expansion. Blood or lymph fluid fill that space. When the skin is expanded too much, blood vessels burst, causing petechia, and too much lymph fluid will create blisters as dermal layers are forced apart.

You need to stop, and take longer to heal completely. Pain is a message to stop. Discoloration and blistering are messages to stop.

Regarding UTI's: you might have some contaminated product there. I would dispose of the coconut oil for certain, as bacteria can thrive in the container of product. To be safe when using any food product as lube, never dip into a container with hands/fingers. Use a clean spoon or spatula to scoop some out, and don't double-dip with it! It's also a good idea to thoroughly clean your tube, hosing, etc. regularly. I'm not sure whether Vaseline can host bacteria, but if anything else has found it's way into the container, the contaminant could harbor bacteria. Perhaps start fresh. But definitely stop pumping for a while longer than you have.

nothing has changed since I started pumping in this regard except the use of bigger tubes. I'll stick between 5-7hg, sometimes go up to 10 if I'm feeling it, but i've done this for years without issue. suddenly, it's super consistent even with moderate pressure or time frames.

i've also read that extreme pumpings will adapt and these issues don't arise for these people who conditioned themselves, nad go up to 20hg. yet it seems like i'm regressing, and getting more prone to injury.

sorry about the last post being all quotes, i messed it up and can't edit...
No problem. Regardless of what others advise, or what's typical for anyone else, *you* are having these problems and need to first completely heal, then start back gradually. You wouldn't attempt to play basketball on a partially healed broken leg, and this is no different. Whether this is a chronic state (a new normal?) is unknown but it sounds as though you're simply re-injuring because you haven't healed. Once healed keep time and pressure low and monitor closely for any signs of trouble. No rocket science, obviously.

Have you noticed any other health-related changes during this time period?

Perhaps I’m lucky, but I have been using the same container of coconut oil for months without issue. Also, you probably shouldn’t use coconut oil designated for food it could have additives. Only saying this because it’s probably not the coconut oil. How many people here using coconut oil worry about contamination of the container? I’m genuinely asking.

I'm suggesting the OP dispose of any organic lubes as they can host bacteria. If he didn't have a UTI I wouldn't make that suggestion, but because he does/did have one, the possibility of cross contamination is high. I'm not implying the oil is the source of the initial infection but it could have been contaminated as a result. A new jar is cheap and easy.

Thanks for the tip about coconut oil and bacteria. Fortunately, I've never had problems. I've always kept the main container in the frig., just chipping small pieces into a 2" shallow saucer for heating. What isn't used I store the covered saucer in the frig. till next heating.

I'm not a regular pumper. When I do, I'll be sure to use a different lube.

No need to use different lube for pumping. There's nothing about pumping that's a problem for infection, assuming good general hygiene. At the risk of being pedantic, the only problem with an organic lube is contanimating unused portions by contact. You normally wouldn't, for example, make a peanut butter sandwich by dipping your fingers in the jar...you use a clean knife or spoon. The same practice works just fine for an organic lube...keep your fingers and pecker out of the jar!
