What does anyone think about websites for dating and hookups? Ive tried a few myself, I dont think they really work. I live in a small town rural region, so I dont run into any young women in my age range to even talk to...so I have to resort to the websites to see whats up...I dont think they really work. Ive met a few from websites, they didnt turn out to be anything, a couple of them were nice, but more of them were odd, not like they seemed.

I wondered if there was a cost efficient dating/hookup site out there, where people really responded to it, and used it a lot . Some of them out there I think a lot of people do them as a self dare and abandon them and never check them.

I actually am on my second month of www.match.com and I haven't met anyone off that size. It's about $100 for 6 months. They of course have the 'if you don't meet anyone we'll give you 6 more months free!' But with that you need to be sending out 5 emails a month, have a picture up, have your profile visible all months. This really isn't a problem I've exchanged emails and 'winks' blah blah, but have yet to meet someone from there.

On the other hand I'm on OkCupid.com: Free Online Dating, Online Dating, Dating, Dating Services, Free Dating Services and I've met one person on it in person and I'm talking to two others. One in which has suggested a date. Okcupid is free too! Go figure.

I think it largely depends on the area you live. Some sites are more popular in certain cities than others. And if you live in a small town I think it's pretty much worthless. I have met people from Yahoo! Personals and Plentyoffish but there aren't too many that live in my city. Most live in the larger metropolitan area that is about 45-60 minutes away.

Agree. Everybody is at least 20 miles from where I live, most much more than that.

I'm fairly convinced you have to get urban to have a high quality pool of candidates.
