I think you’re putting the cart before the horse. While hygiene is important, you first need to prepare your hole to be stretched and penetrated. Otherwise, nothing is going in without a lot of pain.
I started inserting a finger, then increasing it to two and three fingers. Then I suggest moving up to a small or medium dildo or butt plug. Make sure to use plenty of lube and take your time. There’s no need to rush the process. Before you know it, you’ll be sliding that toy in and out with no problems. Now you’re ready to be concerned about hygiene. Wash your ass and hole after pooping. Take an enema if you feel you need it.

@mushroomcap makes a good point about training your hole to be stretched. It's a sewage outlet that opens for a few seconds to pass excrement before closing tightly again. It's not designed to be continuously stretched and penetrated. It will be uncomfortable at first and outright painful if you stretch it too much too soon. Gradually increase the length of time you penetrate. Gradually increase the diameter of the toy you insert. Same goes for depth for longer toys.

Everyone’s already said it but definitely douche beforehand. I don’t personally recommend enemas unless you have constipation because it messes with your digestive system and overuse of it can make you dependent to have regular bowel movements. There’s also risk of contaminating your colon and causing longer term disease. So a regular small douche bulb works fine it shouldn’t hold more than a pint of water, maybe even less depending on how big your rectum is. As you get used to douching you’ll know the feeling of when the water hits your colon and that’s when you stop and take note of how much water to use the next time. A little less.

After rinsing through a few times to get it clean I like to sit for a while and let any excess water run out just to be sure and rinse with soap or use wet wipes. And then lots of water based lube (I use the clear bottle astroglide) and a silicone dildo to open you up and relax your hole.
