Well, frankly, Justin Long has been talking about this for awhile...this is the latest of his opinions on the subject, and i respect him for his beliefs...
however, porn is not a civil rights issue...it is an economic issue.
where he says women saying this: "I'm doing whats best for me and I don't care what happens to you (Mr. Black male talent)."
sort of talks about what he cannot understand...it is self-interest, and economics.
he is clearly highly emotional about the topic, *HOWEVER* he leaves a great many things out...like the male black stars who have their own lines with production companies (Justin Slayer, Lex Steele, Mandingo, Mr. Marcus, Sean Michaels, Shane Diesel)
also, let us not forget, that black people comprise 12% of the population, and the *big companies* in porn he is talking about, derive most of their money, which keeps them in business, by higher budget films, with a bit of artistic credibility, that are sold not only on DVD, but also, most importantly, to the PPV outlets in huge hotel chains, on demand, the spice network etc...now...think of who the clients are for those...the white business traveller...away from his wife and kids, he comes back from a convention, goes to his hotel room, and wants to order a PPV porn that his wife will never know about, and just wants to see a simple, vanilla porn with a big name star that he knows. he does not want fetishes, does not want BBWs, does not want IR...he just wants to see a white girl get fucked and relax for an hour.
it is not so much race, as it is economics.
you would not believe how much money PPV porn generates for the few big porn studios, and the hotel chains which buy make off of it...it is the "dirty little secret" of the hotel industry. and the fact is, as a whole, the smaller black community, is not nearly as economically important a porn consumer, than the average white male, based on economic buying power and consumerism.
many white males enjoy watching black guys with white girls, white on white, or white guys on black girls...but the overwhelming preference is white on white.
white males are the largest consumers of all porn, as fact.
black males tend to buy primarily black on black and black on white. so is a black male that buys black on black racist? no...he chooses his preference...same as whites who buy white on white do...and whites make up the largest buying demographic.
the marketplace follows market buying habits.
i like Justin Long, he is a good performer, an intelligent and thoughtful guy, and has principles. But he is woefully undereducated about economics, and as an industry, porn employs plenty of black performers...just because some of the bigger companies (read: Vivid) focus on a very specific part of the marketplace, i.e. the white consumer, with more disposable income to spend on the porn that they choose to like, which is usually white on white.
this is not denying one a job because they are inferior, this is the flow of the marketplace.
everyone has different tastes in sexuality, and it is unfair to blame people in business for catering primarily to those consumers with the most money with the product they want to see.
i love black women and white women and asians and hispanics and european, as long as they fit in to my criteria of what i find sexy in women...i love busty and curvy women primarily. i would much rather watch a curvy black girl, then an anorexic white girl with bolt-on tits.
i would much rather watch a curvy white girl than a skinny black girl. does that make me racist? no, it just means i have sexual preferences.
as i said, i can understand people like Justin Long being upset by the girls who say "sorry, no IR"...but it is their choice, not his. we are not talking about getting a job at a bank...we are talking about people who are having sex on camera...and that brings an entirely different range of emotions, feelings, etc. in to play.
it can even be said that male stars, like Justin Long, no matter what color, are taking advantage of women who are only in the industry for the money.
in other words, complaining about ideology, in the porn industry, is really not the place to take a stand and moralize about deficiencies in the system.
not alot of people feel sympathetic to a dude with a 9 inch dick who gets paid to fuck hot women all day long.
and on top of that, the fact is, that women are the ones who get the big money in the adult business, not the men...so, in fact, gender is more important than race in terms of "equality" in the industry.
sure racism exists in porn, as it does elsewhere...but let's face it....if you are earning $70,000 a year, for nailing hot women every other day of the year, you really should not be complaining, no matter your skin color. I would bet you could find another black guy, with a big dick, who desperately is searching for a job in this economy, who would be *GLAD* to take that cash, and the women, and the fame involved, and deal with the "race issues" in porn in a nanosecond.
