okay. i'm a bicycle nerd, and i ride around town on my bicycle most of my days. i don't wear underwear, and i'm wondering if anyone else in here who freeballs and rides a bike has had issues with jock itch or chaffing.

I can tell you I did the same for years. After several years your balls will hurt. I have switched to biking shorts and they work great. Use a lot of vaseline on the Chamois.

Around town, I freeball all the time. Even though it's really hot here I've never had a problem with chafing or jock itch.

Every once in awhile I'll sit on my balls but so far no damage done!

You might try to wear loose cotton shorts. I've found that nylon makes things a lot stickier.

I wear mesh gym / basketball shorts with lightweight boxers for short to medium rides (essentially the same as freeballing). I get air circulation where I need it to avoid jock itch and no seams in the wrong places (briefs) to cause chafing. I have padded cycling shorts for rides over 25 miles, but I'll wear the mesh shorts and boxers whenever I can. Loose feels better than cramped to me.
