For some time, I was seeing bus stop adverts all over San Francisco including one mere steps from my building for the movie "Bros". That artwork and title; by sight - made me think it was a mid 2000's circa "Seth Rogan" type of comedy about obnoxious young guys doing what they do in obnoxious comedies. I dunno - I think the marketing killed the film. The print ad seemed more playful in that young straight-guy humor kinda way - like when Harry Styles squeezed his One Direction bandmate's package (that GIF is somewhere on this board, lol).
Anyway, as a seasoned gay film viewer (sans social media, so maybe I'm old and don't get it), even I managed to overlook a potentially fun film because the adverts just didn't seem to do the actual film justice.

Oh, the US marketing for the movie was a disaster. They seem to have learned from their mistakes and come up with a better approach by the time it went overseas, but I don't think there was enough of an audience in Europe and Australia to boost ticket sales that much.
