Until everyone views themselves as an occupant, a temporary one at that of this planet. In the next 200 years this planet and the Universe will throw at us stuff which makes things at the moment seem like chicken feed.
We can be HEROES, just for one day.
A bipartisan resolution proposes awarding the Congressional Gold Medal, one of the highest awards a civilian can receive in the United States. to Capital Police Officer Eugene Goodman.
Kirk Burkhalter, a former NYPD detective, examined the confrontation between Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman and rioters at the U.S. Capitol. He said Goodman appears in the video to be doing three tactical things simultaneously: leading rioters away from the Senate chambers, coordinating for backup on the second-floor landing, and exercising extreme restraint to prevent injury or loss of life.
Goodman, 40, is a Native of DC. A vet who served in the Army from 2002 to 2006, deploying with the 101st Airborne Division to Iraq for a year. His awards include a combat infantryman badge, indicating he was in ground combat.
.
Now that there is this info about what he was actually doing, I regret a post that I made here, late last week, of a TikTok video that made fun of officer Goodman.
Indeed there are. Fucking awful. I recommend a great book I've been reading lately by Crystal M. Fleming called "How to Be Less Stupid About Race." She outlines the scope of the problem and gives some helpful ideas for ways to, well, be less racist.

Thanks. I've read the Kendi (awesome), heard bad things about the White Fragility (can't verify yet), and also recommend Carol Anderson's "White Rage."When finished reading that book, check out some more, hopefully from your local library:
