Fantastic insight:

LeBron James pledges $87MILLION for program to let hometown kids in Akron attend college for free
  • He has partnered with the University of Akron to provide a guaranteed four-year scholarship to the school for students in James' 'I Promise' program
  • The scholarship will cover tuition and the university's general service fee — currently $9,500 per year
  • The school and the LeBron James Family Foundation are still finalizing the criteria for the scholarships
  • The students will have to graduate high school within Akron's public school system
  • They will also have to achieve standard testing requirements as well as fulfill a community service obligation

This is why I have a lot of respect for Lebron James.

More black privilege (and white guilt) ...

Liberals solve racism:

Absolutely disgraceful what's happening at Evergreen College. What a cringeworthy liberal embarrassment.

I must confess however I do so love watching the Left eat their own. Part of me feels the teachers deserve the abuse. The naive leftist fucks eagerly help build those "victims", those ignorant racist monsters. Reap what you sow.

You know what, there is night, there is day. I doubt I could do without one or the other.

Then again, I am more a night person.

Choo Choo! All aboard the right wing troll train.

Do you cosplay as a sheep in RL too, or is it enough for you to just act like one?

Wait, what is your point? After the hysterical and illiberal mob action we have seen occur at Evergreen, and the pathetic response we saw from the administration wherein they simply bent over backwards for the hooligans, it would appear to me that counteraction from those who care about free speech, open inquiry, and inclusion in the university system is warranted.

The POINT is, the events at Evergreen have become the new clarion herald for the so-called alt-right (aka the usual band of neo-nazis, separatists, supremacists, far right conservatives, and your assorted BASKET of misfits, bigots and racists)

AND the favorite "blacks behaving badly" subject of their media (Fox, Breitbart, and the like). But as USUAL they and people like you and MG ignore all the rest of the story behind what has happened there, as explained in T.S.'s linked article and in this one below:

Hundreds of students protest against administrators at The Evergreen State College | The Olympian

Clearly the students here have, and HAVE had long standing grievances that they felt weren't being addressed.

But conservatives/the so-called alt-right doesn't want to talk about that. NOR the fact that pro-Trump demonstrators and alt-right groups associated with hate based ideology have shown up at the campus to start shit of their OWN.

Evergreen State College suspends campus activities again — this time ahead of pro-Trump group’s protest | The Seattle Times

NO, MG and company don't want to talk about that. Instead she wants to frame protests and grievances in terms of "black privilege" and the people willing to address the problem, victims of "white guilt"... the same person, mind you, who praised the antics of TRUMP'S supporters as a "powder keg" (I guess only they have the right to be pissed) and who called nominations of black actors and producers "bar lowering"

- here again to miss NO opportunity to cast black people in the worst possible light. But hey, at least SHE'S not a fkn racist....................... NOR a bigot.

That's a lot of carefully constructed bold and blue, and it's really distracting and ridiculous. You probably have spittle on your face from embarrassment. Couldn't wade through it, personally.

It happens to be the font I prefer to use, thank you very much. But seeing as how you chose to attack my typeface instead "wading through it" and actually offering something of SUBSTANCE, allow me to return the favor.

You've all of 54 messages... only ONE in this forum. meh........

I WILL add this commentary on the Evergreen affair, for those who RATE such a commentary.

No, I jest not. I write this in all seriousness. Some, in my HUMBLE opinion, don't RATE certain feedback and responses, by virtue of what they write, support and defend.

Seriously, why try to have a frank discussion about, for instance, responsibilities of black people within our own community, with someone who has ALWAYS been in denial of... has NEVER acknowledged systemic discrimination, disparate treatment of minorities in law enforcement, healthcare, economic opportunity and all the rest??

F-------- 'em.

That being said, I WILL say that this "day of absence" incident in which white students and faculty were asked to stay away from campus was, imo just plain wrong and, yes, racist. One may remove oneself to meet, reflect, express grievances, protest and the like, but asking students and faculty, some of whom may actually SUPPORT you, to stay away on the basis of their race?

No, s------ like that won't do. It tends to place them in the same boat as those they accuse of discrimination. Further, it undermines their cause AND gives their detractors EXACTLY what they want - the opportunity to denounce, disparage, and dismiss them.

NOT very smart.

Where is the respect for intelligent discourse? None here. Sooooooo much anger, negative passion, racism..... It appears the only way to get their point across is to attack, insult, and hurl profanities. I feel sorry for these educators, sorry, "white ass faculty members." I wish I had a dollar for every F bomb thrown.

The world is in serious trouble.

Well, I was one of those "white-ass' faculty members on three college campuses where there were ethnic, national, and minority protests just as angry and insulting as this. Please consider:
1.) They are exercising their right to free speech regardless of how troubling the insults and profanity.
2.) Sometime next week, they'll be back in classes to get the college credits and credentialing that they are there for.
3.) Let them get all of this out of their system before they hit society after graduation--college years have always been a safe space for the young to get emotive thinking out of their system. Let them have their tantrums here as long as they don't damage school property or resort to violence.
4.) Some of my most belligerent students have become quite successful and fulfilled in their lives.
5.) I also taught in the middle east where I learned to wear a leather jacket because of people quietly (or not)spitting on my back as I walked by , and more than once I found myself faced with people screaming in my face that I was unwelcome, a crusader and blasphemer. And yeay, the chant was always 'my people, my people, my people.' Even though I was teaching courses in logic and semiotics there, I didn't like seeing my flag burned or hearing unreason all around.
6.) In the end, the learning institutions survive their angy guests--Berkeley and Columbia, for example, never closed their doors, are still excellent schools and went on with their mission, as does every school where student protests occur.

They aren't you, so don't get upset, even though it's hard. Just contribute what you can to understanding, justice, and tolerance. Rage and resentment are a short-burning fuels and always burns out when being hungry, lonely, and economically nonviable make folks ultimately more temperate and willing to undertake some degree of cooperation with the system they rail against. No one ever moves to the South Pole because humanity is unjust everywhere else--or because a uniformly penguin faculty is more acceptable because of the condition of their color.

What country was that? Just curious.

Upset? Moreso disappointed, perhaps. When did it become so acceptable to call someoen "white ass faculty?" And repeatedly hurl the F bomb? Where is dignity, respect, restraint in pleading your case? The intelligent, fact based, less emotional, well delivered approach has always been the one to garner the most support. It seems like the only way to communicate is scream yell, curse, protest. We are all entitled to our voice being heard, however rude and crude. I thought we fought so hard to eradicate ts kind of racist commentary in this country. And now it's become downright acceptable to use these words. And we have the left to thank for this for making this ok. Can you imagine if white students got up and called some faculty member a "black ass?"

You mentioned tolerance? That word doesn't exist anymore.
