Simply Put, I don't like this person. He acts like the ultimate Nanny. Most of the people from New York I know don't like the dude. For the anyone but Trump crowd......or anyone else for that matter. What's your thoughts about him jumping into the race?

At least he's a real billionaire, not a fake, phony, and largely disputed billionaire like Trump. I like that he's donated more of his wealth through his philanthropy that Donald Jane Trump "allegedly" has.

He's also obviously more of a "stable genius" than the current White House occupant.

I don't see Bloomberg having broad appeal for any number or reasons. Stop and frisk, which he has apologized for, was racist to the core in its applications and did nothing to reduce crime and raise tensions. As mayors go he was a decent mayor for the city of NY in the circumstances he came into, but again I do not see broad national appeal. He's not nuts like Trump, he earned all of his own money and has been generous with it. I would feel he's competent and would pick decent judges and cabinet heads, but he does not generate excitement. However if he is nominated by the Democratic party I will vote for him.

Who is his constituency?
I could be, I find his message more appealing than either Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. There's a whole lot of people who fall more closely to the middle of the spectrum.

Of course ultimately, anyone nominated will be a vast improvement over the current situation.

What does Bloomberg bring that Biden, Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Harris, Booker are missing? Other than the fact that he is a multi-billionaire.

I think his positions are largely the same as those you've listed ... all of whom I would wholeheartedly support but each of them is unlikely to be the nominee.

I am perhaps more of a centrist than other posters here, a very unique position on these message boards but not unique among the electorate.

I agree. So what does Mike Bloomberg bring to the race that the others don't?

52 billion dollars which is just what it might take to beat Trump ... is that what you want to hear?

Seriously, my opinion is that's he's just as qualified as those others you've mentioned in an earlier post. Does his being rich disqualify him in your opinion? And I might ask of you, what do they bring that Bloomberg does not?

Ultimately I just want to see Trump unseated by whoever is most able to beat him given the weaknesses that the electoral college currently presents to the Democratic Party.

If Mr Bloomberg is concerned about the re-election of Mr Trump, he can still use his 52 billion without being the candidate.

I have problems with him skipping the first 4 primaries/caucus and waiting for super-tuesday to enter the race. His prolonged defense of stop and frisk is problematic and I find his recent apology to be self-serving. I would like him to give a plan about how he would plan to handle his world-wide media empire if he was to become President. We already have a president in violation of the emouluments clause, I don't want another.

I think I've said it here before. I won't be supporting anyone, in the primary, who is advocating for M4A. This country needs to take a breath.

A filthy rich white Jew has no chance in today’s Democratic Party.
Why not? An orange sexual predator was blue to con the public into supporting him regardless of his criminal behavior. Oh, and by the way ... all the rich white jewish people that I know are democrats and find Trump deplorable.

Other than his $52 billion, what Bloomberg has that Bernie and Elizabeth don't have is a good sense of moderation in policy positions that it will take to win in the general election.
What he has that Biden doesn't have is an ability to speak well and humble his thoughts.
He has the moderation of Mayor Pete and Klobuchar without being gay or female.
BUT, he will have difficulty generating excitement with black voters despite apologizing for 'stop and frisk' and with Southern and rural voters because he is Jewish and rich.
OTOH, I'm as liberal as anyone I know about here and I don't like that he's jumping in so late and thinks he can buy the Presidency.

Condensed down to the wheat:

A black man has no chance in today's Republican Party.

No more true than Thik's remark.

GOP would readily embrace a black candidate if he or she embraced the same kind of craziness the rest of them do.

Herman Cain was on top for a bit there in 2015 wasn't he?
