We know that blue eyes are caused by a recessive gene
from, breeding and showing Dalmatians!
I never thought the same cause applied to humans though!
Who knew?!

What's sad are the Blue Eyed People shows. Making them run around on a leash and checking their teeth, it's just sad.

And yeah we all have common ancestors, the blue eyed mutants have ancestors who are brown eyed people.

Do all Dalmations have blue eyes?
According to the AKC, dalmations can have brown or blue eyes, or a combination, in order to qualify for showing.

Interestingly, dalmation puppies are often born deaf. That's one of the reasons they make good "firehouse mascots." The sirens don't affect them.

No,they don't.Dalmatians must have an eye color that matches their coat
a liver spotted dog{like mine} should have light brown to green-brown eyes. A black spotted dog, should have dark brown eyes.
Up until fairly recently, liver spotted and dogs with blue eyes were destroyed, because they didn't meet the "standard" of the A.K.C..
Now though it's fairly common to see liver spotted dogs, but dogs with blue eyes are still disqualified, from the conformation ring*. Deafness in Dalmatian dogs, is related to the dogs with blue eyes,DC. Though they may except them in the agility ring,I have yet to see one dog with blue eyes win any competition.

*As far as when I was showing, and campagning dogs.
I see that the AKC is allowing blue eyed dogs in the ring, but it doesn't say which ring. *Agility,Obedience,Conformation,CDX
etc...

A good portion of my family have blue eyes, and that is rare for Black people, so I believe a mutation could explain it. Our eyes are either bronze to medium brown, or blue. Weird.

Not that rare. The eye color in my family ranges from pale grey-blue to dark brown with about equal number on each side of light and dark colored irises.

Yea miss mega...very interesting...seems the German medicine/sciensit has esp a strong background for during this research since Hitler days...

Also somthing interesting in my family's DNA is having green, hazel/light brown eyes in color...as some of our family members are getting older...their eye color is turning a mid-night blue /darkish green...with vision problems in some cases...very strange...it begains with a very small/thin ring around the iris then before long...the whole blue like color spreads:confused:
Many members of my family have hazel eye color including me... ( pretty I'm told... but I'm blind as a bat:biggrin1:).
It's recommend to wear tented len that adjust to the amounts of lighting outside and inside:wink:
So...here's looking at you my dear thru rose tented glasses:biggrin1:

PS= Remember that ole song Baby Aint Your Brown Eyes Blue!

Not where I'm from. If the 6 train is your mode of transportation then I suspect your ancestors are from the Ramapos.
Ramapos?
To my knowledge, none of my ancestors are from the East coast.
I and a few other family members just moved here in the last decade or so.

Interesting!
Glad to know there are other families who have the experience.
I always thought we were unusual with respect to strange eye color.

Maybe Guy-jin can explain this, or someone else.

I have hazel eyes. There are flecks of blue, brown, green, gray, etc. Is this a combination of all of my ancestor's eye colors? Are hazel eyes just another genetic mutation? When I look into other people's eyes, I notice that they aren't homogeneous; I mean, blue eyes have spots of different blue tones. Are hazel eyes just an expatiation of this?

I have heard that blonde hair is also a genetic abberation, that about 2% of the population is a real blonde, and that eventually real blondes will disappear. I am guessing that blue eyes will suffer the same fate, no?

And, why do people hate gingers?
