My girlfriend is getting close to finishing the third book in the 50 Shades trilogy. She said she really enjoyed them. I bought them for her as a way to open her mind to new things. She calls them a "nice" romance series.

Thinking if she see's BDSM as romantic then there is a chance she is opening up a little. I didn't read the books other than a few passages here and there, so I can't really say how deeply they go. I've heard some women loved them. Bored Housewife Porn.....and others thought it wasn't hard enough. Each to their own in that regard.

I'd like to get her another book or series along the same lines as 50 Shades, but with a little more "rawness" to it. Maybe a little harsher in the sex and Bondage part. Romance is also good as she responds well to that. Not looking for anything way over the top just yet. I was looking to ease her to the next level.

This isn't about BDSM for me per se, although I do like the idea. More of trying to get her think outside the box sexually in a non threatening way.

Thanks :)

Try Sylvia Day's Crossfire Trilogy. Its not exactly raw BDSM, but it will definitely get her thinking. Much better writing that 50 Shades too. They are available for iPad and on Kindle.

You might suggest Story of O I know some people really liked The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy too.

I can't say I was partial to the latter. Story of O was more to my liking. As for 50 Shades, I found the writing somewhat poor and the BDSM in it rather boring  Then again I've been doing kinky stuff for roughly 7 years now... and some of my tastes in that domain run a bit extreme for a fair few people

Thanks Gonewildecat. I will check that one out. "Getting her Thinking" is what I'm after. I think those thoughts run in her head, but she's not a talker and I think the "good girl" in her prevents her from feeling comfortable discussing things.

I'm MUCH more out there in my thinking and what I have done. When we started dating I pretty much laid it out as to who I was. I didn't scare her off soo....:)

Seeing the Story of O was written in the 50's did you find it to be somewhat archaic in it's writing? If written well I suppose the passage of time isn't an issue.

I did look at the link for Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. I found it interesting, but my thinking is the things covered in there "might" be a bit much for her right now.

My old girlfriend is a lot like you and she found 50 Shades to be very boring. Not nearly rough enough for her tastes is what she told me. Then again her friend happened to love it. Two extremes there.

Any other ideas would also be appreciated

If she is ok with mythical type of stories (witches vampire fay anything like that) Kim Harrison has a good series of books. There are some very hot and heavy scenes. Was a very good series.... i am just way to tired to think of the names of the books.

I didn't have any problems reading Story of O as far as language..

I uh, actually found the Sleeping Beauty trilogy kind of boring too. If she's into romance-y stuff, supernatural, and also a bit of crime solving type stuff..... Anita Blake series or Meredith Gentry series by Laurell K Hamilton might work too. And the Kim Harrison's The Hollows are reasonably entertaining too. I can't say I recall much BDSM in the latter, though. There isn't much BDSM to start with in the Anita Blake books, but they get there eventually.

Anita Blake series the main character raises the dead and is in a world with werewolves, vampires, etc. She also helps the local police department.

Meredith Gentry series, she's an unseelie sidhe. Faeries and all that good stuff. Both are set in modern day

Thanks for the suggestions. Some of I might like to read. Seems Vampires are also a good fit for women, so I'll look into those as well. Maybe see if library has them before I go buy some. See what she likes and doesn't.

The Anita Blake books starting slow is good. Starting her out slow and building might be a good way to go. I do like the Story of O idea and may start with that one and one of the Vamp books.

Many options is never a bad thing

Fade, I don't know if the pun was intended, but did you mean doing kinky stuff for roughly 7 years, or doing kinky stuff roughly for 7 years?

I thought the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy was amazing, although by the third book there was a sense of old ground being re-treaded. I don't remember the crime-solving stuff, but there is a romantic element - it's based on a fairy tale, after all. At times it read more like one of those bodice-rippers that made Fabio famous, only one taken muchhhhh further than my li'l old aunt would have been used to reading, I think.

Still and yet, I had some of the most intense orgasms of my life reading that trilogy, including one when I wasn't even touching myself. That hasn't happened before or since, without any physical stimulation, so I learned a lot about my sexuality from that reading.

It certainly gets very kinky and into some intense BDSM. Some stuff that was too much for me (in one scene, Beauty's punishment for disobedience is being made to service a group of guys sexually, for example). I didn't get offended or anything, but some of it might not be your wife's cup of tea. All in all, though, I really loved the experience - and I definitely felt it was an experience.

+1 Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series are both good. I own all the books in these two series. I can def say that start off a little slow but really pick up plus you fall in love with all the different characters.

Ok...this series sounds like a winner to me :) - She actually is pretty open minded, although she rarely says much. Good girl syndrome I call it. The whole point of this was/is to get her comfortable and thinking. Whether she tells me anything is another bridge to cross. Baby steps for now. I like that this one goes outside the box a lot more it seems.

I will also check these out. I did some research and the library does carry them. Thought it best to rent before own in case it's not her cup of tea. In regards to series. I was confused in how many books there are. Which is the first one in the series. I can take it from there.

Marquis de Sade 120 Days of Sodom

Holy cow.....this one might have to wait. Pretty STRONG stuff there for her. I'll add it to the list though. Some of these I'm also interested in reading.

GoodReads has a BDSM/Kink filter.

a quick search will turn up heaps of reviews by readers of all demographics/interest in freakydeaky levels.

most of my recs are on the queer/more advanced levels of rough and tumble.
so, not exactly what ya looking for

thread Kudos for a question about books!
and not books related to penis size

*gives OP and thread a gold star*

Thank you Mickey Lee

I checked out Good Reads for The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. Wow! I'd say the reviews were pretty intense. Most were appalled by the brutality of it. I might have to rethink that one, or at least read it myself first....LOL

That sight is great though. Fantastic resource for me to do some learning.

No offense to your girlfriend but I was only able to get through 9 chapters of 50 Shades of Grey and that was a struggle. Honestly, I thought it was the worst written/constructed book I've ever read. I still can't believe it found a publisher never mind became a bestseller. The latter reflecting poorly on the intelligence of the women who've so embraced it. It was as if one day the author read The Story of O, did a quick Google search on BDSM, and decided she could write a book ... in 3 days. The writing is just so terrible you're left to wonder if a chimp played editor for a day? The author ranks right up there with Kim Kardashians and Paris Hilton in the 'who needs talent?' department.

The book did teach me one thing though, that being, I know for a fact now that I too could write a book and become rich and famous.

The twilight books aren't anything special either but look how popular those got also. It's common place now that trash can become a bestseller. Sad but true.
