I did have a hospital urinal next to my bed but I just had a major back fusion surgery. It’s now put away and I get up and walk to the bathroom for those nighttime pee trips.

Now, I have bladder and urgency issues so I keep a wide mouth Gatorade bottle in my truck for emergency situations. I’m on a new med so it doesn’t happen as much as it used to but when you gotta go you gotta go. The bottle and Dude Wipes keeps things as sanitary as possible.

I don't specifically have a purpose made urinal but I do have a container which I could use if I wanted - and have used on occasion when staying away in premises which don't have en suite facilities. Actually this has given me an idea. I probably could use it anyway and empty it in the mornings. It would save at least one if not two trips to the bathroom at night.

I’ve stayed in a few B&B where the common bathroom was across the hall, some being more private than others. At first I would pull on boxers or use the supplied robe for the trip. After a day or so I just went nude and never had an issue. I can see where a container would be convenient but I don’t like to deal with the cleanup

I share apartment and my room is not a suite is very annoying to have to cross the room dressing underwear or some towel wrapped around the waist. there is always someone waking up using the pc or in the kitchen. so I always have a bottle of 500ml in the room. the guy with whom I share an apartment also uses that mechanism. not a problem for us. but I would not let anyone else, especially my parents, know that.
when I lived in a student residence abroad, in my private room there was a sink. In that case, I always peed in the sink so I did not have to go to the bathroom.

Thanks for that. My primary concern would be less privacy and more the risk of disturbing other people. A container can easily be emptied down a sink or toilet the next morning and rinsed out so not really a big problem. I've just dug out the emergency travel container and given it a wash with a view to maybe using tonight to see how I get on with it. I think it holds about a litre and a half so that should take care of two or three good wees at least.

Sounds like a good plan. Maybe it might be worth upgrading from 500ml to a litre sometime though.

One thing I like about peeing in the bottle is that I can see how my urine is. it is not always possible to have this control when we urinate in the "right receptive."
I've just done a fairly frantic wee into a measuring jug. 450ml and a darker yellow than I was expecting but I'm happy with it.

the thought has never crossed my mind this just seems so unsanitary and is a new level of laziness that i can't believe people stoop too. i walk my ass to the bathroom obviously if you have a disability or illness then you may have no option.

I do keep an empty bottle in my car for that purpose. You never know when you will be stuck in traffic or in a place where there is no place to go to the restroom without committing indecent exposure to the public. When Houston flooded years ago and I was stuck on the high part of a freeway that bottle came in handy because I was able to stay in the safe confines of my vehicle and relieve myself until I was able to get off of the freeway. I don't have any such thing at home because I would just get up out of bed and go to the restroom if I needed to go.

No, can't say this is one of my current possessions. And hopefully I won't possess one for many years to come. At 65 with an enlarged prostate, I hit the bathroom a couple times each night. And I glad, and thankful and all that other good stuff that I'm able to get myself out of bed and take a walk. I fear the day I no longer can. Hey, you asked...

I am currently on very strong diuretics , which make me want to go 4-6 times per night . It is an absolute fucking piss off , when it hit's you , because it is hard to hold it back when i get to the toilet , and someones either in there , or has just had a vile crap , the residual odor of which , makes your eyes water, and damn near chokes you to death . Solution ? A one litre wide neck juice bottle + cap , problem solved .
