"A four-year-old boy has shot his babysitter because he was angry with him for stepping on his foot.

Teenage carer Nathan Beavers probably thought the youngster was joking when he said he was going to get a weapon.

But the child from Ohio, USA, came back into the room with a shotgun and fired into the babysitter's arm and side."

I used to torment mine on occasion (allegedly!), but ...

Can you imagine what he'd have done if he wasn't allowed to stay up late & watch tv?
Seriously, birdshot or not, who in fuck leaves a goddamned shotgun out in the open for a kid to get ahold of?

Who the hell leaves guns around for a child to get hold of? Theyre the ones who should be charged here. Shameful neglect & insanity.

Yet another example why guns shouldn't be allowed.

Wake up America!

Yet another reason irresponsible parents shouldn't keep guns where their kid will get at them no matter what.

You are also mistaken. Guns in the US are not allowed. They're a right that the government has no power to take away. When something is, "allowed," it means that someone has the authority to allow it or not. That is not the case here. Guns are the final guarantor of American freedom exactly as they were when this country was created.

Guns are also used in self defense to prevent more crimes than are committed with them. They are an overwhelming benefit to the average citizen.

I also point out that shotguns are widely allowed throughout the world including your country where this could have happened just as easily. Focus the blame where it belongs.

Gun ownership is a basic right of every American citizen. We also have rules about who can own them and what they can own.

Does that mean everyone follows those rules? No.

I'm pretty sure though that where you live not everyone follows the rules either. So get off of your self-righteous pedestal.

What that boils down to is an irresponsible parent. The guns as well as the bullets should have been under lock and key so that the child had no access to them. Any parent who chooses to be ignorant and endanger the lives of not only their children but others should be prosecuted. Perhaps that one man is not responsible enough to be a gun owner but his abilities do not speak to the abilities of his fellow Americans who own guns responsibly.

I'm not even delving into this can of worms with you short-sighted idiots again. If you're too simple to understand that the fault here lies with the irresponsibility of the firearm's owner and not the firearm itself, then you deserve everything your nanny state deals you.

Nono, he is right. Come on, guns in every house, even without a license, tha is asking for problems. Buying bullets in a regular shop! That is retard...

Most guns owned in America are owned by licensed carriers and trained users. I'd like to see your statistics that support the fact that the majority of Americans do not own their guns legally.

Where you buy a bullet doesn't matter dear.....if you buy them at Wal-Mart or at a specialized gun shop they can be used for the same purpose. For all you know both the rifle and the bullets used by the 4 year old came from a specialty store.

The problem here is an irresponsible parent and gunowner....not the fact that Americans have the right to own and use guns.

He is just saying that every time you read about a little child who shoots with a gun, that news is always comming from the USA... Can'thelp it. Yeah, there are rules that are broken here too. But kids shooting with guns, they have to see their parents doing it and they also know where the parent put the gun.

The primary reason it is "always coming from the USA" is that we have actually maintained our rights to own firearms and not been handed retarded rules that prevent us from self-protection and self-preservation as have the majority of countries in Europe.

BTW....have you not seen all of the pictures of the children in Africa who fight in wars with high-powered rifles???? And that is just one example.

So I can assume you have a gun?

I just disagree with it. And yes also in Africa I disagree, but those kids are pushed, they are a living shield! That is so different.

SO u are mad that I disagree. Okay, it is in other countries too, but the best known is still the USA. Can't help it. It just is. And I (speaking for myself) disagree with the fact that people have guns at home, by that I mean that it is too easy to get a gun there. End of discussion.

You should learn what not to say to Americans. Guns do not kill people as they are merely tools; PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE. Period.

HEAR HEAR! Well said, sir! :biggrin1:

Whether or not I own a gun is no concern.

And even though it's different it is the same type of irresponsibility. The father of that 4 year old is no better to me than the parents or adults in Africa who FORCE children to use weapons.

The last school shooting I remember hearing about was in Finland. That said, I know someone whose nephew was shot in the head at a party by another child who found a gun laying around the house somewhere. He survived. Can't remember any details, like is he a vegetable or not.
