Another cry for morality from a LPSG member! Not commenting on recent posts I have to say Wah Wah Wah, just because something does always fit you idea of reality does not make it wrong. This show is sexually charged and its not a new theme. I remember them making points in season one about the young ones use of bananas for masturbating. Silas on the other hand has become such a hottie I intend to watch the show just to see how much of him they will actually show. Its a cable show and it is gonna show some surprisingly uncommon themes and material, as long as the 15 years olds were not exposing themselves then its just an acting part and not morally wrong in the eyes of the production.

It's my opinion that both should be stricken from use both by the gay community and straight across the board. They serve no real purpose but to reinforce negative stereotpyes.

That's never gonna happen... you're always going to have those who believe trying to stop use of the word entirely is the best course of action, and then those who believe that using that word as often as possible will extinguish its powers of, as you said, diminishing and dehumanizing a particular class... neither group is ever going to win completely.

the networks, with very few exceptions don't care about morally wrong. if a show about "the life and times of satan"
got better ratings (and it probably would) than "the life and times of mother theresa" guess which one would get picked up for a second season. $$$$ we're just a bunch of pavlovian dogs on a feeding frenzy. (me too around here.)

I've been a real fan of Weeds the Showtime series.

This seaon the show's changed venue so abruptly and completely that it's tough to recognize what's going on.

During last night's episode the oldest son "Silas" said to his younger brother "then what are you doing here. Get your faggy ass up those stairs and do those girls!"

Two fifteen year old girls (of course) awaited a nearly pre-pubescent little troll and the next scene featured the two adolescent girls touching each other.

Between the bullshit of the sumbliminal suggestion of female bisexuality being the accepted norm and brother Silas' homophobic remark I'm done with the fucking show (Mary Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins notwithstanding).

This shit's just not funny anymore.

It's like someone in production said "we gotta make this show more appealing to heterosexual America".


The previous episode had featured a picture of Hunter Parrish's ass (Silas Botwin) as he ate out what they're calling a MILF on the show:

Weeds is a work of fiction being broadcast on the Showtime network that abhors censorship. I appreciate the existence of such networks which exhibit bold, daring films uncut and commercial free. If I dislike a show I simply change the channel instead of calling for someone's artistic work to be banned. To illustrate a homophobic or racist character in fiction it is understood that the writer would use words of that nature.

Though you and I differ in our critiques of the show from previous seasons thanks for your "non-attack" approach anyhow.

Any fascination I had with seeing the newly-buff Hunter Parrish made me lose my boner when I heard the "fagotty" line. The show makes little sense now. It bears little if any resemblance to previous seasons where Celia set the tone and Conrad Shepard (and particularly his mother) added so much tongue-in-cheek hilarity to the dialogue.

This is another show. I don't like it and I don't recognize it.

I noted last episode I didn't laugh once. The show's taking itself too seriously.

Weeds is one of my favorite shows. It's brilliant and refreshing. This season isn't quite as good as last year's, but I think that it will get back on track soon.

Oh come on. Irish is the least arrogant dude here, and Manly was making a fair arguement with plenty of facts to back up her claims. This is just being responsible, not unfriendly. Besides, they are both Irish, and if you pick on one, you pick on all of them (they are all cousins, after all).

Had Silas used it to Conrad when he began working from him ("nigger") Conrad would have drawn and quartered him. You'll note that that that word was never used in previous seasons against Conrad Sheperd, his sister, or his mother.
