Yeah, my ass is too big for a speedo....and I'm a tad hairy
Tom, as someone with quite a bit of ass...I can assure you there are speedos and squarecuts out there for all...you just have to buy one size up. This has the added benefit of getting rid of some of the clingy-ness that others have mentioned is an impediment to their wearing something more fitted.
Personally, I gave away all the boardies I had years ago when my workouts started bearing fruit so to speak.
First wore them when I was about 24, although they fit kind of tight. I now wear nothing but when swimming at the gym, perhaps one of my couple pairs of squarecuts. I was thinking of getting some of the short boardies I have seen from Parke and Ronnen, as they still show off but are a bit looser.
The 007 Squarecut spike has been mentioned before, but it points to the ultimate answer to this question: Gay, straight or bi, men in America most relate to images of power. They want clothes that make them look like powerful men they wish they could be like. It's why hip-hop culture influenced fashion for so long. There is also a lot of influence from Mixed Martial Arts (which has spurred the rise of DOUCHEBAG brands like Ed Hardy, Allfiction, etc) now.
Apologies to our resident thin guys, but gays who look muscular and powerful are far less likely (in my own experience and what I've seen on beaches in Cali and FLA) to be thought of as 'gay' as a bad thing. Especially when the women they are with are caught checking out said gays, as has happened to me before as well.
You put more powerful-looking men in smaller swimwear, it makes more men comfortable with said swimwear because they then want to be more like what they are seeing.
Damn I can't wait to get back to Europe this spring :biggrin1:
