I swim every day and I've noticed in the locker room that its around 90% briefs these days and 10% boxer briefs. Boxers are entirely non-existent. It seems like the boxer brief craze of the last few years is giving way to regular briefs. At least from my observations.

Briefs do offer some support and keep everything in position, boxers don't. Be careful with some cheaper briefs as awkward if bits can work their way out.

I have seen an increase in briefs being worn too, but not quite 90/10. I will say there are more briefs at the pool, at the gym boxer briefs are still a majority.
