George W. Bush should realize he is in trouble when veterans wear bullshit protectors to avoid hearing his attempts to justify his war in Iraq.

As he did in last year’s election campaign and more recently as war opposition has risen, Bush reminded his listeners of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 – reciting the date five times in a 30-minute speech.

He said Americans owe it to the war dead to finish the task they gave their lives for. More than 1,800 U.S. troops have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003.

Half of this country STILL believes that is why we invaded Iraq. Sheesh.

Anyone who couldn't tell this was bullshit the day we went into Iraq won't be helped by bullshit protectors now. I do feel sorry for the fallen soldiers and their families, but how many of these guys were drafted?

But just how many of them enlisted knowing we would illegally invade a sovereign nation; send them to war without the proper equipment; withdraw most of their veterans benefits; reduce their combat pay; extend their tours; lie, cheat and steal from the Iraqi people; hire only the administrations "friends" to implement and organize the war; be fed expired, 2 year old C-Rations; be forced to pay for their own, few, limited calls stateside; have their families put in the position of actually buying their meals and any needed extras or recuperative aids at Walter Reed and all other VA hospitals; find out that they have to pay their own airfare home from whichever port they are returned to, should they live; find there is virtually NO psychological care available because of funding cuts; wait up to 9 months to see a VA doctor and on and on and on.

Just as an aside, we can't afford to armor vehicles never intended for combat duty; can't get the Pentagon to approve new, modern bullet proof vests and don't even provide our soldiers with adequate water, much less the Iraqi people, but the bush cartel has spent ONE BILLION FUCKING DOLLARS on abstinence only sex education programs in OUR(?) public schools. Priorities my hairy ass.

Enlist and see the world. The U.S. will take care of you in return for your service to your country. What a load of unadulterated shit.

    "Support The Troops"..........................................................when?

Sigh...wish I had something new or inciteful to add, but you guys have said it all, better than I could.

Well, hopefully we only have to put up with this crap for 3 more years...

1.5 more if by some miracle the dems can take over the House and/or Senate next year.

I wondered if the "muted and scattered" applause part was covered by FOX (or hell ANY) News station? Somehow I doubt it.

I'm afraid you guys are already wearing bullshit protectors.

    They're called blinders.

Nah...those are for the Shrub. have you seen his latest "argument" for the war in Iraq? We have to send more troops into death in Iraq because...er...so many have died in Iraq.

Talk about your definition of circular fuckin' logic.

y'know, it'd be vaguely interesting if you provided some kind of evidence in actual rebuttal of what's already been stated ... but I think we're both already aware that ain't gonna happen.

well yeah, that was kinda my point. I just don't understand why pecker et al keep making these token single-post gestures of disagreement when they don't seem to got anything to back em up.

... riiight, but what I'm saying is, if someone wants to go so far as to identify themselves with a political party, they must have SOME reason for doing so.

He believes in a literal Bible and in Young Earth Creationism. Twenty-five percent of Americans fall into this group. The Republican Party most closely represents their views.

Or at least it has led them to believe it does, actually I'm not sure it represents anything other than it's own greed.

Please explain this... How can you accuse people that actually recognize what's going on around them of wearing blinders? What are you insinuating people are so blind to, exactly?

I really want to know just where this shit is coming from...

Hearing you guys and the DNC pundits on TV reminds me of meeting up with one of those people who walks the streets wearing a sandwichboard that proclaims "The End of the World is Near."...

    "Repent! Repent!"
    "I already have, thank you!"
"The world is about to end! Repent!"
    "I'm ready, are you?"
"You're all doomed unless you repent!"
    Hello, can you hear me?

Now those who are DNC supporters:

    "Down with Bush!"
    "You mean our president?"
    "Bush lied! He lied!"
No, he didn't. His information, which was the same information Great Britain reported, turned out to be in error."
"Bush lied! Oh, woe is me! He lied!"
"I don't seem to be getting through."
"Bush is a moron! He's stupid! He's ignorant!"
"Well I could probably say the same about a few Democrats..."
"Aha! Throwing mud again, are you?! Halliburton! Iraqi oil!"
"Gee, if it's all so bad, maybe we should have Mr. Cheney take over."
"Already has! Lies! Oil! Stupid! Rove! Halliburton! Hate! Negativism!"
"If you'd take those blinders off, you might be able to see something besides those talking points which are directly in front of you."
"Down with Bush, you ignorant moron!"
"I think this is where I came in. How come you only have complaints? You never have any solutions."
    "Health insurance! Economy! Stolen votes!......."

No debate can begin to make headway when there's so much hate. Yes hate. I don't often jump into political discussions with long responses anymore because I know I won't change any minds, enlighten any souls or convert any voters in this atmosphere. I support the president. You hate him, therefore you hate me for supporting him. You feel he's a moron, therefore I'm stupid.

You all sound alike, a chorus of negativity.

    Hate.

    Blinders.

    When will you remove them?
