The president's job is to have a positive outlook, not to declare to the American ppl we are screwed.

2/3 of this is around marketplace psychology. Healthy, profitable companies are laying ppl off now. The R word gives them a green light for the shareholder first, employees second doctrine.

Technically we weren't in a recession yet. A recession is two consecutive quarters of down-turn. We knew we were headed for one, but the report that pretty much made it official is very recent.

CBS news said it's been here for 9 months.

CBS. Heh.

It wasn't official until recently. It wouldn't have done any good to start spreading it around earlier.

Just for my own personal entertainment purposes, which Democrats braved this epiphany to the public before Bush?

On the same note, how are the Democratically inspired unions working toward a solution in the auto industry crisis?

Just curious.

Unions are the biggest cause for the failure of the auto makers. They deserve what they get... however government (both Dems and GOP... but mostly Dems are fed from the coffers of big union) is going to bailing out this antiquated system.

Amen to that brother! Unionized government workers have to go as well.
