What ship?!?
There's a USS Bush?!?
That would be too funny.
There really isn't anything funny about it.
The Navy's newest Super Carrier is the George H.W. Bush, named for the first President Bush.
George H.W. Bush was a decorated U.S. Naval Aviator in WW2. It would seem appropriate that a carrier is named after him, considering that the 11 US Nuclear Super Carriers from 1967 onwards are named after Presidents and high ranking Naval Officials.
He volunteered for the Navy at 17 became the youngest ever naval aviator in history up until that time, just shy of his 19th birthday
He flew on the carrier USS San Jacinto, and his plane was shot down and he was injured and the three other members of his crew were injured.
Nevertheless he was rescued and went on to fly 58 combat missions off the carrier.
He then was an instructor for new Torpedo plane pilots because of his knowledge, and then returned to active service in 1945 with another torpedo squadron and he received three air medals for " Meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight", a presidential unit citation, and the Distinguished Flying Cross for "Heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight"
I would say that, and his long service to his country, being a congressman, being director of the CIA, being Vice President for 8 years, and President for 4 years, and having a strong, lifelong commitment to the U.S. Military means he has clearly earned it.
Its a fitting tribute to Sr.
