Although someone as outspoken as BBucko doesn't need anyone like me to come to his defense, since this issue circulates around me I feel compelled to say something.
This is to you and all the other people coming out of the woodworks:
First get a dictionary, and you'll see that the word pansy means "a weak, and often cowardly man." Whatever other definition you are giving the word is in your own mind. There is no "... against gay men" to it. As far as myself, I'm bisexual in a gay relationship.
It's also a pejorative that has been used against gay men for many, MANY decades. Being bisexual and in a gay relationship, you should know this.
Secondly, there are no racial implications in my post. If you care to read this thread:
http://www.lpsg.org/241314-the-war-on-women-a.html You will see that the video I'm linking is the one that VB
linked to me several times over and over again. You and anyone else who mentioned "racial" anything are the ones who are implying it.
That's because you are voluntarily choosing to ignore various bits of obvious context and expect everyone who reads them to just "get it". It is considered societally uncouth to draw inflammatory imagery between a black man and a gorilla, based on highly circulated stereotypes of African American people just several decades ago. With that being said, I know that I used that video several times in posts directed at you in the past. That's because the "beating of a chest" is also symbolic imagery that can be used to someone who demonstrates alpha male-like characteristics (and that is clearly evident in your responses in the argument turned flame war we had in the past). The fact that I selected a gorilla to demonstrate this was also symbolic, as I thought your actions & responses in that thread were bordering on Neanderthal.
With all of the racially charged & socially ignorant comments people make around here, both directly & indirectly (especially in the Politics Section), one becomes pretty apathetic to the mass majority of it. I truly don't know, nor do I care if you had any racial intent with your last "post" directed at me. That's why I didn't even bother responding to it in any major detail because I knew what you said to me was not even worthy of a dignified response to begin with. However, knowing that certain images and figures of speech can have multiple meanings, it is the responsibility of the person using them to make sure their statements truly reflect your contextual intentions. You didn't do that, and
that is your fault.
Who wants the apology? You? And who's dishing out the consequences? You? You're trying to make something out of nothing. My verbiage is definitionally sound and there is no imagery.
No it wasn't. People make racial comments all the time, and the more responsible ones go above and beyond to ensure that the comments they make are perceived as a joke or words not intended to entice or inflame. Again, you didn't do that. You just expected people to "get it" because of how you feel others perceive you and I on this board.
I have no problems squashing things with VB because I don't hold grudges and aside from our disagreements on this board we probably have some common interests. But that's for us to decide, not you. You don't get a choice.
I wouldn't say that you don't hold grudges, considering that your response was continuation from a dead argument we had several weeks ago about Women's Rights. In this thread, I didn't call you out by name nor did I make any reference or implication to the exchange of words we had. You came in this thread, unprovoked by anything beyond what I was saying to someone else (and a grudge that you claimed not to have) and posted an inflammatory & personal attack that was not only inappropriate but also completely off topic. Also, if something is made public then it's also open to public discourse for people to make opinions. Nobody here pays attention to everything you or I say, so it's dishonest to seek out some form of public response and then tell them they don't have a choice when their reaction is not the one you were seeking.
Ultimately
just think before you type next time. But you can start doing that with someone else because I honestly have no interest in continuing any form of communication with you from this day forward.
