We've had a lot of threads about Bush's negatives. I'd like to see what is left for a Bush legacy. Even our worst Presidents do extraordinary things and Americans should never forget this fact. Our worst Presidents would be revered as "saviors" if they governed practically anywhere else in the world.

Without exaggerating the record, what positives can we take away from the Bush-43 era? Let's try to stay positive - we have too many other threads bombing Bush. I'll start with the layup...

** The homeland is now safe for the time being until threats out-pace our rational thinking and preparation again. Bush gets all of the credit for this.

For the moment, we still have economic (including access to petroleum), political and diplomatic access to the Middle East, and that entire region to the east, whereas, before, it looked like we would have been shut out by the SCO

so, for the moment, Tehran, Moscow, and Beijing have been stalemated

who knows, maybe we will see, in Iraq, a democratic Arab state:clap:

He approved a large oceanic National Park. I think that is likely to be his greatest lasting positive legacies. A second larger park designation near the Marianas is on the rocks due to fishing lobbiests.

Oh! And he appointed Paul O'Neill as Secretary of the Treasury!!

After aiming the S.S. Citicorp for the iceberg which of course it hit. Of course just like all good industrialists he was long gone by then. The captain NEVER goes down with the ship.

He put Crawford Texas on the map.

According to their website: "Crawford has changed quite a lot since the President and First Lady purchased their 1600 acre Prairie Chapel Ranch from the Engelbrecht family in 1999. Dubbed "The Western White House," where once the buildings were closed and boarded up, now tourists and townsfolk sip their morning coffee and stroll the sidewalks of this reborn little town."

Yeah but he wrote a great tell-all book!

Just like every ex-Bush official after they are long gone and with the Constitution in tatters, the public and the planet royally divinely screwed they earn millions telling us exactly HOW they did it. I thought rapists couldn't profit from their crimes?

C'mon people.. is it really this hard to come up with things? Stop with fluff... I want some meat! Let's hear something good... think, people! (No; him leaving office in January is not an accomplishment)
